Dave Brat talked to Chuck Todd this morning and said that while immigration played a part in his victory over Cantor last night, it was about much more than just immigration, namely fiscal issues and the Republican creed.
Todd also grilled Brat on a few policy issues but then when he got to asking about arming Syrian rebels, Brat reminded him that he was hoping they’d talk more about the victory, especially since he hadn’t gotten much sleep.
Todd tried one more time with a general question about whether Brat was an isolationist or an interventionist. Brat responded that his positions don’t necessarily fit within a mold, that it’s nuanced, but that generally speaking he believes the US must project it’s power abroad. He does believe that European countries should start sharing more of the burden though.
