Facebook bans artist for making MAGA “hate hats”

A woman who actually sews MAGA hats into ‘hate hats’ had her account banned on Facebook. Kate Kretz of Mount Rainer, Md, takes MAGA hats and makes NAZI armbands and KKK hoods out of them to supposedly call Trump supporters out. But when she put photos of these ‘hate hats’ on Facebook, her account was blocked for violating their standards:

Here’s more:

A Maryland-based artist reconstructs MAGA hats into identifiable symbols of hate — turning them into recognizable symbols such as a Nazi arm band, or KKK hood.

The artist, Kate Kretz, uses Facebook as a platform to support her work, but said she was recently banned from Facebook because of this controversial MAGA art.

When Kretz posted a picture of the arm band on her Facebook page, she said she got a lot of positive feedback from users. But Kretz said Facebook took it down within four to five days, saying it “violated community standards.”

She appealed the decision and posted the image again, with the following text: “This is not hate speech. This is an art piece addressing hate speech.”

Two days later, on May 9, Facebook disabled her entire account.

Kretz then filed an appeal, but Facebook has yet to respond.

Some on the left are upset about this, pointing to the fact that Facebook won’t delete a fake video of Nancy Pelosi but will ban this.

Personally, I think the hats are offensive and are most certainly a smear attack on Trump, but I don’t think her account should be banned. If anything this controversy is giving her way more attention than she deserves.
