  1. I disagree with the idea that a 3/5’s majority of the State Legislatures should have the power to nullify Supreme Court jurisprudence or a Federal statute. I do not see the Republic surviving if that were the case. I do not understand how Levin can advocate such an idea when it would gut the Supremacy clause and then in the next breath demand a return to the Constitution.
    That said, that flintlock they presented to him looks outstanding.

    1. Mr Downs, you might find an interesting read Mr. Levin’s book “Men in Black”. I highly recommend it to you. Further, your disagreement on the idea of 3/5’s majority of the State Legislatures goes contrary to what the Founder’s ultimately decided, after months of debate, at the original Constitutional Convention in 1788. After that period of debate, after hearing all the arguments, it was ratified by all the States and it then became part of Article 5 in our Constitution and it still exists today. This is not Mr. Levin’s idea. It came from some of the greatest minds in American history. It is not a departure from Constitutionalism; it is spot on consistent. What support can you provide for your disagreement? I am curious to hear both sides of the argument. It would seem to me that a 3/5s majority of the State Legislatures would be more representative of the voice of the people than that of 5 men and women on the Court? (And in the instance of the Affordable Care Act, just one man.)

      1. Wanted to correct my earlier comments. I recognized after the fact that I misspoke. You are correct, Mr. Downs, that the idea of 3/5s majority of the State Legislatures being able to overturn a Supreme Court decision was originated by Mr. Levin and is not currently incorporated as part of the Constitution. Rather, this idea is one of his proposed amendments in his book the “Liberty Amendments”. I confused your comment, which is about a specific type of amendment, with the amendment process overall that currently does exist in Article 5 of the Constitution. I do apologize for the confusion. I think the intent of Mr. Levin’s proposal is to give a voice back to the people in the court decisions that have such broad, sweeping, impact on all Americans. Case in point being the Affordable Care Act. Would still be interested in your thoughts if you happen to return to the post.

    2. Why do you think that getting 3/5’s majority of the state legislatures to agree on nullifying a decision would be easy? If you could get 3/5’s of the states to agree, that would likely mean that it is what the majority of the country wants. State legislatures also face elections and they are closer to the people who vote them into office and try to follow the will of their constituents. The states have yielded way too much of their power over to the federal government through the years and it is time that they took some of it back.

  2. Levin and other propose limiting terms of congress and the judiciary. However, we must also limit the terms of top bureaucrats too or else they will become as entrenched in power as the IRS’s Louis Learner is.

Do they really truly understand what socialism is?? Is that what they really want??? I tell them what we stand for and tell them that all Americans should want the same things! I refuse to engage them with name calling…..I tell them that name calling or calling us racist is not a good Strategy….we get it already and it no longer works! Just keep trying to convince them that the democrats today have morphed into something more like communism and socialism. It is not the party of our mothers and fathers. It has changed.

    1. I second that. He is a snarly, vicious, yet noble attack dog on the outside with a truly compassionate heart of gold on the inside. There is nobody alive today in politics and media who I respect more than Mark Levin. I also listen to his podcast every day and must say that in my life now all cable news including Fox News is completely useless to me.

    1. My husband built one from a kit years ago and it is really nice; not as grand as the one so rightfully gifted to Mark, however! I can’t imagine actually using one to protect yourself or shoot game. It’s no wonder they had to be such terrific shots, because they take a long time to load.

        1. The one my husband made was brass, but that’s all I know about them. He was an excellent woodworker/finisher so the stock is smooth as a baby’s behind.

      1. We must make it last. The last time our liberty was under attack, President Reagan came forward in leadership. But I think in those days, we did not realize the magnitude of the danger, or what we were truly facing. Maybe in those times, we thought winning that battle of ideas was winning the war. Now we do understand what we face and what threatens us every moment. It will not go away and requires our full attention to keep it at bay. We must be vigilant always, defend our liberty and principles, and instill their value in our children and those who come after us.
