  1. Well, if you’re OK with Beck’s Mormonism, I guess Mitt Romney’s religion won’t bother you either when he’s the Republican nominee in 2012. But you can be sure of this: these theories will be examined a lot more rigorously in the press. IMO, this won’t be good for Mormons.

  2. There were those who said that if a Catholic ever won the Whitehouse,Our country as we know it would come to an end, some even stated that the inquisition would be unleashed on America. We survived it, did we not?

  3. And legend has it Irish monks made it to my hometown of Groton,Ct,whats the point? It’s legends and myth, just like the BoM. Then again the BoM was a cheap takeoff of “View of the Hebrews”. But as a American I fear find the Mormon “White House” prophecy and Joseph Smith’s teaching on theodemocracy troubling.

  4. NOTE: This same potential train wreck (people not knowing where they belonged in the land of Promise) was EXACTLY why Ezra took time to settle the genealogies BEFORE the exiles returned from Babylon, to nip the possibility of scams and in-fighting… BEFORE THEY EVEN SET OFF FOR ISRAEL!

…and that is why I CHRONICLES 1-9 is actually EXCITING! (no, really). In the midst of the joyous chaos of returning… there still needed to be proper order, and a clear plan. And Ezra KNEW THAT.

We’re going to need such wise and principled leadership in this Republic, even as we set her back upon her original FOUNDATIONS.

…Lord, send us such an Ezra!

  5. The ‘titillating’ (always wanted to use that word in a sentence, and just now got my chance!) curiosity surrounding any “lost tribes” of Israel has been a MUTE POINT… since Titus sacked Jerusalem ~A.D. 70~, put her to the torch, and utterly destroyed and dismantled the temple… and destroyed ALL RECORDS housed therein (Jesus predicted it, forty years before the legions came… Luke 21:20).

    POINT?

Housed in the temple were not only copies of the Torah, temple tax records, etc…. but also the COMPLETE BIRTH RECORDS ~genealogies~ FOR EVERY ISRAELITE IN THE WORLD… BY TRIBE, FAMILY, HOUSE. These especially went up in the conflagration (the Romans KNEW their subjects, and what was most precious/vital to them).

    POINT?

…without proof of “connection”, through those genealogical records:

    1. NO Jew could claim ‘birthright’… to ANYTHING
    2. NO Jew could lay legal claim to LAND, GOODS, BUSINESS… INHERITANCE of same (within the boundaries of their particular TRIBE).

And most crushingly, for the nation’s heart/heritage/history AS a nation… NOT ONE SINGLE JEW could EVER claim rightly/successfully, according to their own law… to be a member of the tribe of LEVI (the PRIESTS).

That is THE reason there has never been, since that day in A.D. 70, the offering of the sacrifices commanded in the Pentateuch… EVER. No priest. No sacrifices.

    Why no “Lost” tribes?

…they ALL lost their ability to prove TRIBAL SPECIFIC KINSHIP the day the smoke rose from the ruins. As “tribes”, they were, every single one of them on earth… lost. Since those days, the sons of Jacob/Israel have been called… and called themselves… only… JEWS.

  6. I’m not a Mormon, but I’ve heard the theories too. Whether or not that’s true, I agree that it’s the big point he was making that matters. The Native Americans have their societal problems in the past, just like us, with slavery and warring, but there isn’t a civilization on this planet that hasn’t done the same or similar. Go Beck! Let’s think outside the box and uncover more historical possibilities!

  7. Legend has it that St.Brendan along with accompanying monks reached North America between 690-700 AD. The Phoenicians have been thought to have made several landfalls in the Americas. Lief Eriksson is believed to have made it further south than L’Anse aux Meadows. People have chased stories of the lost tribe of Israel all over the globe including North America to no avail. The theory of some of the tribal societies being that lost tribe is not new as Beck pointed out nor an original concept of Smith’s which Beck never asserts it as such. As Beck ,for as long as I have watched his show (from his early days on CNN) has never advocated joining or the supposed superiority of the Mormon faith. In fact he has rarely if ever even mentioned his Mormon faith, and certainly did not state that this theory proved the history or foundations of Mormonism. This conspiracy theory type paranoia of the Mormons is really getting old and worn.

  8. Trying to incite, will only get your “comment” expunged. If that is all you have to say go back to HuffPo or DK where they welcome your type of commentary.

  9. My concern with this topic is that it gets into shady territory, and I wonder if Beck isn’t intentionally trying to bolster and promote Mormonism on his show. Considering that Mormon beliefs state that Jews came to America and his mentioning that Jefferson apparently wondered if they had.

My thought is that just as with the Vikings and Chinese, many people were crossing the oceans. It would not be surprising at all to learn that Phonecians or Jews had made there way here in one way or another – or that some of the knowledge passed via the Bering Strait as the Indians came from Asia. I recall also reading somewhere that there was supposedly evidence of some Celts/Irish coming to America well before Columbus.

None of this proves the history of Mormonism.

  10. Those of you who actually believe what beck says is sick in the mind. Please do humanity a favor and do not have children.

  11. Was this a serious episode? So tomorrow do we learn how NASA,the Russians,Art Bell, and the Grays have kept the locatio of the planet Kolob a secret?

  12. I was fascinated by this presentation today. I am a Mormon and am familiar with some theories that the Hopwell Indian tribes carry significant similarities to the people in the middle east, and can understand if Beck has some fascination with the topic because Mormons believe that at least some of the Native Americans descended from middle eastern people. But his whole point, whether this has anything to do with Book of Mormon people or not, is that history repeats itself. The cover up of the majesty of the native Americans is real, and a study of it uncovers how the same tactics are being used to carry out agenda right now in our political environment. It is a very scary thing. We all must seek out the truth wherever it is. I hope he shares more on this subject, because when you start to dig deeper into it, what you learn will blow you away. (e.g. nearly all of the 200,000 mounds were secretly destroyed in the 1800’s, and hundreds of unearthed skeletons were taken by the Smithsonian and never allowed to be studied, not to mention artifacts)

  13. Huh? I’m totally lost on this one. Indians,Jews,Badges of Military Merit,government/big business/evil churches hiding the truth from us? Politics, congress, and religion coming together? Ever hear of theodemocracy? Joseph Smith and the Council of Fifty were big into it.As Beck would say do your homework.Manifest Destiny was evil why? Because America won Utah from Mexico in the Mexican-American war? Historian William E. Weeks has noted that three key themes of Manifest Destiny as the virtue of the American people and their institutions; the mission to spread these institutions, thereby redeeming and remaking the world in the image of the U.S.; and the destiny under God to accomplish this work. Seems that he Believes God was involved in Manifest Destiny.Odd,but why bicker you know? I’ll never answer why the best answer isn’t the simplest.

  15. The only thing I allways agree with Beck about is always fact check things for yourselves, today he seems to present opinion as fact, thats inportant to remember in archioligy. Sometimes he presents the founders writing on ideas as the same as those of truth & reality. What natives may have been or known 2000 years ago means 0 and don’t forget mormons believe native americans are jews. I’ve always had a love of history and it sadens me that becks revelations are such to so many. Some think man walked across ice causeway 9 to15 thousand years ago from mongolia & Siberia to N.America & south. Norsemen came ca.1000a.d., there are intact structures thought possibly built by the Knights Templer in 13th or 14 century. We know now the Chinese curcumnavigateted the world in 1421, colinizing north & south america. In1600’s native americans as sociatal way of life practiced thieft & slavery & a constant state of war among tribes and felt no diffrent towards whites.

  17. Just a tidbit for anyone interested…who is a believer in the Bible. The Old Testament fortells over and over that after Israel is taken captive a “remnant” will be saved. The Bible also says that this remnant fled North and that is kind of where the story ends, what every Mormon believes is that that remnant fled to North America and the Native Americans/ Indians are descendents, because we have the record of those people. It’s called the Book of Mormon. If you are interested check it out.
I had never heard any of this before but it makes perfect sense to those who have examined the Book of Mormon and believe it to be authentic.

  19. Why is Glenn Beck a thought leader…

Well, when God is brought into the conversation… there is clarity.

“Divine Providence” (… God & Government) vs. “Manifest Destiny” (… humanism & politics) is a convenient way to describe the ideological debate in America today.

For those who think that God has no part in the political discussion today because of the so-called separation between God and government (… church and state), remember that it was Christians who came to the New World to practice their faith without intrusion from the state.

It was not Christian founders who would write a constitution that would deny them their freedom to influence their government… according to their religious beliefs.

It was and is atheists, since Thomas Paine in the 18th century through various atheist groups today in the 21st century, who did and who are attempting to deny America’s Christian founding influence to further a non-God & Government America.

Animism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Zoroastrianism, and et al were not the founding influence in America.

However, because the ekklesia, the “called out assembly” known as the Christian church learns from mistakes, Judaism is an honored friend today. The growing interest in biblical Hebrew indicates that also.

It’s an inspiring thought… did early indigenous people (… Indians) speak ancient Hebrew?

  21. Great program thanks RS. Glenn is doing great work.
There are two points and they are major that he and most others are just perpetuating myths about.
Lincoln was more like Wilson and FDR than like Madison. In my opinion he was one of the worst presidents we have had.
MLK was more like Obama than Booker T. Washington. Not in words but in beliefs.

  25. Already saw it- I’m going to be the first to say that this was an awesome show, and it looks like the rest of the week is lining up to be equally eye-opening.

Most of his shows are good, and often great, but this one had me flabbergasted.

I was thinking about staying up to watch the show re-air, but I’m already getting sleepy so it’s not going to happen- I’ll just have to watch it online tomorrow.

    1. Is anyone noting the fact that what Glenn showed on his program is Mormon theology and has no reliable evidence to back it up? I like everything Glenn has been teaching Americans up to his involvement in spirituality. I am an ex-Mormon, fifth generation with Mormon missionary grand parents. He has crossed the line and people need to beware.

      1. That’s what I pretty much had assumed, first time I watch his show in weeks and it’s (mormon) apologetics. Nothing specially bad about Mormonism in my opinion, all apologetics are not welcome on my tv.

The fact that he’s organizing clergy now is also worrying.
