Grassley says FBI report on Kavanaugh “VERY CLOSE!”

Chuck Grassley told reporters that from what he’s being told by people in the know, the FBI report on Kavanaugh is “very close”:

POLITICO – Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley said Wednesday the FBI report on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is “very close,” but the Iowa Republican would not predict when the high court hopeful will get a vote.

“I think it’s very close,” Grassley said. “I have not talked to the FBI, and I don’t think I should talk to the FBI. People that seem to know said it’s getting close, but when, I haven’t heard.”

If the FBI report on Kavanaugh reaches the Senate by Wednesday, Grassley said a critical cloture vote on the nomination could come as early as Friday, although he said the final decision on timing is up to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

“When we had our meetings to agree to what Jeff Flake asked us to agree to — and we did everything he asked us to do, seven days, so that’s Friday — in that conversation, it was understood that cloture would be filed when the report was received,” Grassley said. “There’s ample time for people to review” the FBI report.

The sooner the better in my opinion. This fiasco should have been over already, but for the “Great Flake Out” of 2018 last Friday.

Kavanaugh has been put through enough and I’m beyond ready to see him voted onto the Supreme Court.
