Grassley says Kavanaugh accuser IS NOT responding to their requests for next week’s hearing

Sen. Grassley, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, told Hugh Hewitt this morning that Kavanaugh’s liberal accuser isn’t responding to their requests about attending the hearing next week.

Grassley said “we have reached out to her in the last 36 hours three or four times by email and we have not heard from them”.

He said that her unresponsiveness “kind of raises the question, do they want to come to the public hearing or not?”

Grassley added Ford told the Washington Post that she wants to testify and that they are delaying the committee vote in order to get the facts out on the table. But he doesn’t sound convinced yet that Ford even wants a hearing, saying “Do they want to have the hearing or not?”

When asked if she refuses to attend would Kavanaugh still be there, Grassley pointed out that the whole reason for this is to give her accusations a hearing. He simply asks “what would be the purpose of the hearing if she doesn’t want to respond”?

Grassley also pointed out, as was reported yesterday, that Democrats didn’t participate last night in the initial questioning of Kavanaugh, saying “when you want to get all the information out on the table, why would they miss any opportunity to participate?”

He suggested Democrats lack of participation has further aggravated their attempts to initially interview Ford, however he wouldn’t go so far to say Democrats are obstructing a ‘full and fair’ inquiry into the matter.
