House Democrat says Moratorium will lead to an economic black hole

Democrat Rep. Charlie Melancon from LA. disagrees with the Presidential off shore drilling moratorium because it will cost the region too much in the way of jobs and the economy. While sympathetic to why the President chose to engage the moratorium, he says there must be a balance struck between keeping the drills going and ensuring the drills meet safety requirements.

There is a lot of pressure on Obama to lift the moratorium which some regard was an unconstitutional abuse of power to begin with. Let’s hope he lifts the moratorium soon before the drills leave for more fertile lands.
