HUH? DHS allows German Romeike family to stay in US…

If the Obama administration is allowing the Romeike family to say in the US, then why did they fight the asylum request?

FOX NEWS – A German home-schooling family facing deportation following the Supreme Court’s refusal to hear their appeal is being allowed to stay in the U.S.

The Department of Homeland Security has granted the family “indefinite deferred status,” their attorney confirmed to Fox News.

That means the Romeike family, who claim the German government is persecuting them because they want to raise their children in accordance with their Christian beliefs, can stay in the United States without the threat of being forced return to their home country, the family’s legal team told Fox News.

  1. The goal was not to trash the criteria for political asylum. Had the family applied for legal residency when they came here, there probably would not have been a problem. Their plight just didn’t rise to the level of religious persecution. As soon as that was established in the courts, the administration gave them legal status to stay. Read into what you will, but the Romeikes and the government got what they needed. The only loser was HSLDA, who didn’t get the precedent they spent all that money to get.

  2. The dumocrats just inducted 8 possible new members into the fold. Nothing against the Romeike family intended.
    Definition of FOLD
    1 an enclosure for sheep
    a : a flock of sheep
b : a group of people or institutions that share a common faith, belief, activity, or enthusiasm

I think I like 2a as the most likely answer.

  3. HUZZAH!!!! How the heck did that happen? Color me suspicious, but it’s good news.

Last I checked, we are a nation that harbors those who seek freedom. You know, people like the ones who thought up this nation in the first place.

  4. FINALLY some good news for a change. The Romeike family had better keep their lawyer at the ready though.

    1. Yep! As soon as the Dems get crushed again, they’ll lash out and deport them for sure…can’t have those pesky home-schooled brats doing any further damage…

  5. That is great news. If the DHS can allow the presidents law breaking relatives to stay, why not these good people?

  6. Homeschooling often leads to education which can be the vaccine for the cancer of statism. The Hussein’s illegal, statist, anti-American regime cannot be seen to support or even condone homeschooling. But the Beast is not yet prepared to reveal its true heartless, inhumane statist nature. Therefore, it must strategically allow human rights to prevail in this relatively small matter for the time being in order to better serve its greater long-term purpose of ending America.

  7. Score one for God…be very afraid…He will sort this all out…and brush away every tear…

  8. Score one for the good guys on this. I’m sure it’s not over for them, but the longer this drags out, the less likely king obeyme’s minions can kick these folks out.

  9. WARNING: this is just a delaying tactic. DHS will wait until another crisis arises, then while all eyes are elsewhere, kidnap the Romeike family and deport them.

There are at least several ways they could do this, several excuses they could use, and many lies they could tell, but that’s roughly what will happen. This time they made the mistake of waiting to act until the American public could act. They won’t make the same mistake twice. A fait accompli can’t be undone, nor can justice any longer be achieved for victims. Just ask Tyrone Woods’ and Glen Doherty’s families.

    1. They very well could be overruled in a higher court at some point. Like after the midterms.

  10. I’m pleased I’m in the company of people who get the ” arbitrary discretionary power” factor of this decision (as deTocqueville1 puts it).
I’ll only add that this decision allows the legal precedent to stay which says that homeschooling is not a right. That was the most important part for Herr Holder.

  11. Is this to make us appreciate the exercise of arbitrary discretionary power over the rule of law?

    1. Yes the people must always be reminded who is in control.

And maybe because DHS and INS just might be getting ready to process asylum for all the homosexuals in Russia, Africa and Middle East who are about to start fleeing their countries’ new anti-homosexuality laws?

They wanna be fair doncha know

        1. Yesterday Rush pointed out that if the USA is no longer a force for good in this world, who will step in to take our place?

      1. Here’s the difference between Conservatives and Progressives: I do not approve of homosexuality, but if they are being oppressed and seek asylum in the US, I would have to say they should get it. Fair and equal application of the law, without the whimsy of judges.

    2. As in the king freeing a prisoner on a holiday to show his generosity to the peasants? Maybe. Maybe…

BREAKING NEWS!!! The Romeikes can stay!!!

Today, a Supervisor with the Department of Homeland Security called a member of our legal team to inform us that the Romeike family has been granted “indefinite deferred status”. This means that the Romeikes can stay in the United States permanently (unless they are convicted of a crime, etc.)

This is an incredible victory that can only be credited to our Almighty God.

We also want to thank those of who spoke up on this issue–including that long ago White House petition. We believe that the public outcry made this possible while God delivered the victory.

This is an amazing turnaround in 24 hours. Praise the Lord.

Proverbs 21: 1 “The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord, He guides it wherever He pleases.”

  13. “Indefinite deferred status” sounds like they will remain illegals. Perhaps they were fighting to gain status, and DHS (which stands for Department of Homeland Security – they are a real threat to the Democrats’ political security) was fighting not to grant them status.

I thought Democrats were the ones that claimed that keeping illegals from gaining status was impeding America from excelling?

      1. Equally it must be that way when your own policies conflict with your own policies. This regime is at war with itself and everything else that’s in existence.

    1. Perhaps they promised to register as Democrats if the INS would allow them to remain in the country.

    2. Thee are “good” illegals and “bad” illegals. The “good” ones are the criminals and perverts. The “bad” ones are the good parents and moral people.

After you’ve studied democrats / liberals / proggressives / marxists for awhile, it’s easy to break the code.

      1. They were never illegals if I read this right, but I get your point. Those who break and enter from south of the border somehow are all valedictorians.

  14. Isn’t “indefinite deferred status” what Obama gave to the illegal immigrants too? He’s probably looking for more cover for the elections in November for the Dems. Then he can point to this family and say,”See I let them stay too”.

  15. Praise the Lord! Pray that it lasts and this family can finally settle down in their new homeland.

  16. That is great news, but can “indefinite deferred status” be changed at any given moment?

    1. My guess is that this status will only last until the 2014 election is over. Religious dems are taking some heat for this admins war on religious freedoms.
