IT BEGINS: White House to fight subpoena of Don McGahn!

As we suspected, the White House isn’t just going to allow Don McGahn to be subpoenaed by the House Judicial Committee without a fight.

Here’s more:

FOX NEWS – The White House will fight House Democrats’ subpoena of testimony and documents from ex-White House counsel Don McGahn, Fox News is told — and almost immediately, House Judiciary Committee chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y, characterized the move as “one more act of obstruction” by the Trump administration.

A fight over the subpoena would also set up a series of other contentious legal showdowns as Democrats seek to publicly question current and former Trump aides who featured prominently in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report on the Russia investigation.

They aren’t just going to fight McGahn’s subpoena.

They are vowing to fight any of them they feel might infringe on executive privilege:

Fox News is also told the White House intends to vigorously oppose subpoenas that might run up against executive privilege, a power sanctioned by the Supreme Court that allows the president and members of the executive branch to shield certain internal communications from disclosure, absent a compelling overriding justification.

I’m very glad the White House is fighting this.

If Democrats were actually acting in good faith, I might feel somewhat different.

But leading up to the elections they telegraphed that they were going to wage war against this president if they won the House and that’s exactly what they are doing.

Democrats don’t just want to impeach Trump because they know they can’t remove him from office. This is about finding as much mud as they can to sling at Trump in the 2020 campaign to convince the electorate to vote for a Democrat.

It’s the height of irresponsibility to use their positions in Congress like that, but that’s what they are doing. And I’m glad to see Trump isn’t going to take this sitting down.

You’d be in favor of subpoenaing if you knew Dems were acting in good faith….. I don’t see why you’re so sure they are not. Yes, a number of Dems are for impeachment and a number of Dems did get elected in 2018 while preaching impeachment…. but the leadership still sees impeachment as a benefit to Trump so they are unwilling to pursue. Regardless, isn’t there a legitimate argument to be made for impeachment? The charge of high crimes and misdemeanors covers allegations of misconduct by officials, such as perjury of oath, abuse of authority, bribery, intimidation, misuse of assets, failure to supervise, dereliction of duty, unbecoming conduct, refusal to obey a lawful order, chronic intoxication, and tax evasion. Is it safe to say at the very least, Trump misconducted himself during the Comey/Mueller investigation? Trump attempted obstruction of justice several times but was lucky enough his aides did not… Read more »

Executive privileges and pardons as required to shut down these Marxists.

I have a feeling when Obama used executive privilege, you pulled the constitution out of your breast pocket in rage.

Now, you might think that a two-year investigation following a year-long investigation that fails to turn up any evidence of collusion at all would leave the Democrats embarrassed enough to just let the whole thing drop.

But that would let the Trump administration have their turn at investigating how the Mueller investigation was started in the first place, why it continued at least a year after determining there was no collusion, and how the original FBI investigation started in the first place.

I think the Democrat strategy will be to attack, attack, attack to prevent the investigation of the investigators from ever getting any traction with the public.

So yeah, we can expect this to continue until the Democrats lose the House, which we can only hope will happen in 2020.

They need to just say no the the committee heads. Remember the IRS scandal, the Holder contempt of congress, Benghazi, e-mails … crickets.

Less than two years to go, drain out the Democrat legal bills fighting this. Trump we have your back. You get two years for yourself, after the Democrats wasted the first two years.

Agree, taxpayers should not be funding the DNC 2020 campaign. Except we do since government workers kicked in $2 billion dollars in 2018 for Democrat candidates.

If Democrats want dirt on Trump, there is an out of work British spy who will give you anything you want if the price is right.

Remember that the next time governrment workers complain they are over-worked and underpaid. Stop wasting your paychecks on the Democrats and keep the money for yourselves.

It would be refreshing to see the democrats finally stymied for once. Lord knows republicans won’t stand up to them. This is where Trump really shines. And he’s right to do it.

Democrats can (and likely will) go to hell. ALL they do is evil. I wish I felt differently.

I’m very happy that the WH is fighting back against the Witch Hunt II which is being waged from the Dem. house committee members. Turnabout is actually now fair play.

I wish there was way more outrage over trying to take down this president! For WHAT crime! Day after day, the crazy left & MSM spew their hateful nonsense. I pray God intervene. Enough is enough!

Yet Obama got off on all the crimes he committed.
Let’s hope he goes down here. Let’s hope him and Hillary are finally held accountable for their crimes.

mslibertymsliberty I keep waiting to hear exactly how “the Russians” influenced the 2016 election in Trump’s favor. Who exactly was not going to vote for him, and then changed their vote? If anything there were many of us right on this site who DIDN’T vote for him, who support him now.

While he was never my first choice in the primaries, I always admired his work on Celebrity Apprentice. He showed great leadership and business savvy, and the whole point of the show was to raise many millions of dollars for charity. But then that Access Hollywood tape dropped, plus the emphasis on some of his “colorful language” – to the exclusion of his many good works – and I was convinced he wasn’t to be trusted, so I didn’t vote for him.

Of course, we now know that WE were duped. Ironic, isn’t it?

nc – I know for a fact that there were no Russians in our voting booth.
Honestly, I bet he wishes that he would have never said or done things in his past. But then, who doesn’t. I’ve read about many of the good acts of kindness that he has done that many do not even know about. He knows his purpose now & I hope he can fight the left back. He needs a major victory over the crazy left. Every day when I hear the news and what comes out of the left’s mouths, I hope and pray he can secure another turn.

I hope they fight everything which the House is trying to do. This is all a repeat of Mueller. Enough!

This is worse than Mueller. It’s political harassment after exoneration on what turned out to be a hoax to begin with. The unethical behavior by the Democrats on these committees should not be tolerated and needs to squashed. But the MSM will cheerlead these efforts and hype it up every chance they get.
