Pro-Palestinian protesters attacked demonstrators supporting Israel in Calgary, Canada on Friday, and much of it was caught on tape. In the first part of the video, the attackers strip away a protest sign, and then an Israeli flag from the small Jewish group. They stomp on the Israeli flag and rip it apart to cheers and laughter from the crowd.
In the second part of the video, the very large crowd of pro-Palestinians clearly assault the Jews.
As Canadian commentator Ezra Levant observes, the police posted their version of the events that completely whitewash what truly happened:
Yesterday evening, a planned protest with two groups in attendance was met with disruption. Last week these same two groups held a similar event with both sides acting appropriately, requiring no police intervention. Unfortunately, this was not the case yesterday.
This was an emotionally charged event and the Calgary Police Service was prepared and responded immediately. We also called in additional officers to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
We responded with a balanced and measured approach. Members of the CPS are highly trained to respond to this type of event, to ensure participants are able to continue to take part in a safe manner. Maintaining public safety is the primary role of officers on scene.
Police “immediately responded”? Not in the video posted.
