ABC News sat down with Melania Trump during her first trip to Africa. One of the questions they asked her was about the #MeToo movement and her support for women.
Here’s what she had to say:

Melania was first asked what she thinks of the #MeToo movement, if she believes in the women and supports the movement:
“I support the women and they need to be heard. We need to support them. And also men, not just women.”
She was asked if men in the news accused of sexual assault have been treated unfairly:
“We need to have hard evidence that, you know, that if you are accused of something, show the evidence.”
The reporter, Tom Llamas, pressed her on this, suggesting that someone might hear that say that and say “How could you say that Mrs. Trump? You need to stand with women.”
“I do stand with women but we need to show the evidence. You cannot just say to somebody ‘I was sexually assaulted’ or ‘you did that to me’. Because sometimes the media goes too far and the way they portray some stories, it’s not correct. It’s not right.”
Boom.
That’s exactly right. Show the evidence! Seriously, how hard is this?
Clearly Melania believes in the ideal that someone is innocent until proven guilty, which was not on good display during the Kavanaugh fiasco. And I’m so glad she emphasized that in her own words.
But I’m also glad she took a shot at the media, saying they go too far and that it’s just not right. After all, these allegations against Kavanaugh were completely unsupported, uncorroborated and yet they ran with them as though they were ironclad.
