Mohammed Morsi sentenced to DEATH BY HANGING in Egypt

CBS NEWS – An Egyptian court upheld a death sentence handed to former President Mohammed Morsi — the harshest ruling yet against Egypt’s first democratically-elected president since he was overthrown by the military in 2013.

The ousted leader and five senior members of the now-banned Muslim Brotherhood, including its Supreme Guide, were sentenced to death by hanging after being convicted on charges of breaking out of prison during the 2011 uprising against former president Hosni Mubarak that eventually brought Morsi to power. At that time, he and other Muslim Brotherhood leaders had been imprisoned by Mubarak’s security forces.

They didn’t just break out of prison. According to Today’s Zaman they were convicted for “killing and kidnapping policemen, attacking police facilities and breaking out of jail during the 2011 uprising against Mubarak.”

And this is just one case among others he’s been convicted for, but it is the most significant consider Morsi has received the death penalty for it.

It is important to note that this death sentence was approved by the Mufti and because of that Morsi and his henchmen can appeal:

The confirmation Tuesday was necessary because Egyptian law requires judges to seek the advice of Egypt’s official Muslim religious authority, the grand mufti, before finalizing sentences of capital punishment. The defendants now have the right to appeal through the courts.

This appeal process could take years.

Erdogan has already spoken on this new death sentence, calling for international outrage or something:

Death sentences against Egypt’s deposed President Mohamed Morsi and leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood are a “massacre of law and basic rights,” Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan said on June 16 as he called for action.

“We call on the international community to act to withdraw these death sentences, given under the instructions of the coup regime, and to put an end to this path which could seriously endanger the peace of Egyptian society,” Erdoğan said in a statement.

The timing of this appeal process could be interesting. We know from Daniel 11 that Turkey (King of the North) invades Egypt (King of the South). Should this appeal take a few years before Morsi is actually hanged, it could be the spark that brings Turkey into Egypt to finally end this ‘coup’ themselves. After all, Morsi is Muslim Brotherhood and so is Erdogan, and he supports Morsi completely. If they hang Morsi for all the world to see, you better believe Erdogan is going to rage.

That’s if Sisi has the gonads to do it, and I suspect he does.
