A new poll out today shows Heidi Heitkamp underwater in her Senate race in North Dakota and it’s not good – well not good for her.
Heitkamp’s opponent is leading her by 10 points:
This poll used a likely voter set:
According to SRA, it surveyed 650 likely voters last month. And, Republican challenger Rep. Kevin Cramer leads incumbent Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp by 10 percentage points; 51 percent to 41 percent. Eight percent have yet to make up their mind.
But what’s really interesting in this poll is that 60% of the state supports Kavanaugh’s nomination:
And not only do 60% support it, but it’s the biggest issue among voters right now:
That’s YUGE!
So what does this tell us? That if she votes against Kavanaugh, she’s dooming herself in November, which is only a month away now.
Now of course this is one poll. In an earlier September Fox News poll the race was closer, with Heitkamp losing by just four points. This was before the Democrats attempted to assassinate Kavanaugh’s character.
So we’ll see what happens. But if they do vote this week, I would strongly suspect Heitkamp will vote to confirm Kavanaugh.
