New Russian law BANS transgenders from driving

Russia has created a new law that effectively bans transgenders from driving, as well as others have have personality disorders. Now the bill doesn’t just target personality disorders, but also substance abuse and physical impairments as well.

But the personality disorders is getting the most attention because, you know…LGBT rights or something:

NY DAILY NEWS – A broadly written law to tackle notoriously horrible traffic safety throughout Russia bans transgender people from driving.

Human rights activists call changes to the “On Road Safety” bill signed by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev just last month another attack against the country’s LGBT community.

“Banning people from driving based on their gender identity or expression is ridiculous and just another example of the Russian regime’s methodical rollback of basic human rights for its citizens,” Shawn Gaylor, an advocacy counsel for Human Rights First, said in a statement Thursday.

The bill dedicates several pages to listing mental, developmental and substance abuse problems that would keep a person off the road, but it also covers those with physical impairments such as blindness or missing limbs.

Though the bill neverly directly references transgender people, it cites the entirety of World Health Organization’s list of personality and behavior disorders, which includes those suffering from gender identity disorders such as transsexualism and dual-role transvestism.

Peeping toms and pedeophiles would also be barred from obtaining a driver’s license, because they’re listed in disorders of sexual preference.

WHO’s classification doesn’t consider homosexuality a disorder, but anyone wishing to obtain a gender reassignment surgery would be at issue.

Personally, I’m waiting for the outrage over peeping toms not being able to drive! That’s insane!!!!
