New video reveals NY cops weren’t just batoning black men in the street, they were DEFENDING themselves

Earlier this week cell video showed a couple of NY cops batoning a couple of black men in the streets of New York. And of course everyone cried foul!

Here’s the video:

But the NY Post has obtained other video that shows what happened before that video began, and it’s pretty clear they were simply trying to defend themselves and put these perps who were resisting under arrest.

Here’s how the NY Post describes it:

The 25-second clip, obtained exclusively by The Post on Wednesday, captured the moments before a bystander shot cellphone video of the cops using batons to beat Aaron Grissom, 36, and Sydney Williams, 37.

The grainy footage, recorded by an overhead surveillance camera, shows Grissom grapple with both cops in a crosswalk, then advance south on Broadway as he struggles with one cop in the intersection with 169th Street.

Williams moves toward the fray before the action is hidden by a street sign, but when the men emerge on the other side, Grissom shoves the cop away and swings his fist overhead toward the cop.

The two cops then square off against Grissom and Williams near the southwest corner, with both snapping open collapsible batons as they advance north and hit Williams, prompting Grissom to lunge forward and attack one cop.

A law-enforcement source said the clip was part of a five-minute recording that covers the period of time before social worker Michael Gonzalez, 32, shot cellphone video showing Williams and Grissom get beaten with the batons.

“This video shows that these two individuals were refusing to comply with orders to disperse after members of the community complained,”
the source said.

“They then recklessly attacked officers who were responding to quality-of-life complaints and trying to protect people in the community.”

Gonzalez, who lives in the neighborhood, has told The Post that his video shows “the cops being aggressive, when they were just defending themselves.”
