Newt hits academia, the media, and OWS for not understanding the economy

Asked whether companies should be focused on the social responsibility of creating jobs or focused on maximizing profits for their shareholders, Newt take the opportunity to hit back at academia, the media, and most of the people on Occupy Wall Street for not understanding history and misrepresenting the economy. He then is asked a follow up on what the media is not reporting accurately about the economy, and that’s when Newt told them. It was short and awesome:

  1. Great work Newt! These debates are real educational tools for the media and the leftists out there who have enough brain to listen and think about what is being discussed. Newts answer is the question posed by Ayn Rand as an answer to all the looters and parasites, “resources provided by whom?, Blank out.” no answer possible from OWS, the media or the politicians.

  2. …bottom of the 9th inning NEWT steps up to the plate and hits a game winning GRAND SLAM HOME RUN in the seventh game of the World Series 2012 .”

I would LOVE to see a CAIN /GINGRICH 2012 TEA PARTY GOP TICKET !

  3. The look on that mediators face while asking him what the media does to misrepresent the way the economy works is priceless. Did you see them fumbling to gather themselves? You want to know who lost this debate? The media. Truly enjoyable.

  4. Newt was right on this, and on how she asked the question. The idea of capitalism has never been about wealth distribution, but rather whether or not the opportunity is available to all people. There has always been an unequal distribution of wealth in the US, but historically, the poorest person in the US lives better than the richest person of other countries.

When I was in graduate school in the end of the Carter years and the beginning of the Reagan years. My children and I were surrounded by folks from other nations. (BTW: there was no welfare or government assistance for those attending college back then) Indeed, there were very few Americans, most of my fellow students were from the wealthiest ranks of their nation. One thing I heard again and again was how the poorest people in America lived better than the richest people in many nations.

You could say that clearly after a few years of the Reagan Presidency. You can’t say that today. Obama has killed the economy. Nobody will invest because nobody trusts Obama. Period.

What does it say about the Obama Administration when cities like Moscow have more billionaires per capital than New York City? What does it say about the Obama Administration’s policies? Former communist nations out produce us? What does it say when Walesa would not meet with our President because he is what he fought?

The media gives Obama a “bye” on every piece of economic data reported. They fail to question anything, like the basis of those measures or the data manipulation. Even by Obama’s own measures, his policies have failed. They are currently working on how to mask that by generating a new set of measures and data, so as to run on more hot air and fluffy BS. I hope Newt and his folks are able to nail them down… because the 3 years of fake employment data (rather than measured) and faked indicators deserves to be called out. History cannot allow it to stand, nor can we, the American people, allow Obama’s policies and notions of class warfare to replace the standard of American excellence. The media needs to do their work, and if they will not, then it is time to replace them with our own media.

    1. Great read Barbara, thanks. You have to wonder, the depth of ignorance of those people who don’t or won’t accept the basic truths you wrote about. Astonishes me.

  5. Good Lord, that was great…!! Now, THAT’S family entertainment!!

I’m now rooting for Newt to win…I want to see more liberals PUBLICLY HUMILIATED!!!

  6. His best line was almost drowned out with the crowd noise. After the dummy asked him when the media did not report accurately on the economy, Newt said: “Ah humor disguised as a question!” Nearly spit coffee all over the screen.

  7. Gingrich is running a smart race. Starting from way back he’s slowly bringing himself squarely into the fray by pacing himself, letting his competitors diminish in strength one by one, keeping focused, not being led down ‘gotcha’ paths by his fellow candidates or the left wing moderators in the debates, staying true to the most important thing of defeating the current criminal administration and being clear, intelligent and interesting when he has something to say. He’ll be there in the end.

    1. I hope so. I think Newt is the best candidate up there. I’m voting for him. I can overlook his “baggage” for the greater good of America. We all deserve better than the nightmare in office now. This has been America’s worst 3 years in my 63 years of life. We can’t let the scum in our White House continue to bring America down. We need to unite against Obama. United we stand and they fall. Divided (which is what Obama wants), they stand and we fall. Don’t let it happen good people. Don’t let it happen.

  8. All the candidates should call out the media this way. It would catch on and maybe people would be more skeptical of MSM. Newt is lighting fire y’all.

    1. Gingrich: “I’ll go for five and six: F.D.R. and Reagan.” You might ask him why FDR instead of posting an incomplete quote. Personally, I would like to hear his reasoning, rather than jump to a conclusion. I’m sure you would ask the same for your candidate wouldn’t you?

  9. attn political wannabees

please watch this video to learn how to respond to loaded questions from lamestream libfag media talking heads

  10. I can’t wait to see new polling data. More than ever, I think a Cain/Newt ticket or even a Newt/Cain ticket is the answer. They have both distinguished themselves from the pack. I’d like to see them do more joint events such as the Lincoln-Douglass debate.

After all this crap about Herman, he seems to be stronger than ever. None of the spaghetti has stuck. It will be interesting to see what the GOP establishment and media elite will do next.

I still have absolutely no idea why the GOP allows these liberal media moderated debates.

    1. It’s hard to ignore the media since they are the de facto fourth branch of government. Love your comments about Cain-Gingrich. My dream ticket for quite some time now. Cain has the leadership and communication skills, and Gingrich is the smartest one in room as soon as he walks in, anywhere.

  11. Hot Dang! She got b****slapped so hard my screen was vibrating!

This has been hard for me but I have now officially made the decision that Newt would be the better nominee to Cain. Sad thing is, though, that, in practice the tide as turned so far in support of Cain that it would do more damage than good (i.e. splitting the votes so that RINO Romney ends up with the majority support in the end) to switch sides now. Cain for 2012… but man do I wish I could swap the C-A-I-N, for a N-E-W-T. I wonder what anyone else thinks.

  12. who the f cares about his track record! obama has no track record at accomplishing anything. i love this talk about track records. barry soetoro aka foreign exchange student should be in jail or deported to his home countries. and we are worried about newt leaving his wife for another woman many years ago?? if newt was in pakistan when no americans were allowed in would that raise a red flag? we are talking about the wrong issues and we are following the medias message like sheep. control the message and you control the masses.

  13. 25 Reasons Newt Gingrich cannot win the presidency:

    – Voted for the creation of the Federal Dept. of Education in 1979 under Jimmy Carter.
    – Big supporter of Foreign Aid — even to Soviets through the Export-Import Bank.
    – In one year (1994-1995) Gingrich voted for nearly $45 billion in foreign aid.
    – He helped push through Federally-funded loan guarantees to Communist China.
    – Urged the House to repeal the War Powers Act and give the Presidency more power.
    – Urged Clinton to expand military presence in Bosnia.
    – Supports Afghan War
    – Supports Iraq War
    – Calls for Iran War
    – Supported Clinton’s welfare programs, education programs, labor programs, and environmental programs, as well as most of his foreign affairs programs.
    – Supported spending $30B for the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 that shackled gun owners with new restrictions, federalized a number of crimes, and handed the feds police powers that the Constitution reserves to the states.
    – Voted to give billions of dollars to United Nations “peacekeeping” operations;
    – Pushed for a School Prayer Amendment
    – Mentored by Henry Kissinger
    – Bailed out savings and loan institutions in 1991. $40B Bank bailout
    – He was a draft-dodger during Vietnam, yet advocates foreign interventionism in his political career.
    – Worked on the Rockefeller presidential campaign in 1968.
    – Card-Carrying member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), a globalist think tank
    – “Distinguished member” of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (neocon, pro-interventionism group)
    – Member of Bohemian Grove
    – Member of the World Future Society
    – Voted for NAFTA, a blatant circumvention of Congress’ exclusive power to regulate commerce with foreign nations. Took power from American people and put it into the hands of unelected Binational panels, made mostly of foreigners.
    – Supported GATT
    – Supported WTO
    – Continually supported increased federal spending.

    1. You were doing okay until you brought up the Council on Foreign Relations and the Bohemian Grove. What no mention of his Illuminati Super Secret Decoder Ring?

      1. You don’t have a problem with a one world government? You know – thousand points of light stuff?
These people really believe in this stuff. Little stupid handshakes and symbols and crap.
You should have seen Gergen freak out when he was confronted about the grove. The elites are all freaks.

        1. Makes you wonder…

          Who’s in charge?

          Bohemian Grove
          Bilderberger Group
          Secret handshakes
          Agenda 21
          Global Warming

Yes, people really believe that stuff… and much more.

        2. If I were studying diplomacy and foreign relations there would be three people on “the Brains I would like to pick” list.
          1. Benjamin Franklin
          2. George Shultz
          3. Henry Kissinger

As to the “New World Order” hooey and one world government, no I don’t buy into it. Neither would a lot of people if they applied logic and reason to it instead of listening to Alex Jones, George Noory et al and then going off in a frothing paranoid panic. If these people want to go to a private club, get sloshed on $500 a bottle scotch and cavort through the redwood trees buckazz naked, I don’t really care, that’s their business. If industrialists, bankers, and politicians need to get together to discuss trade, economics and bounce ideas off one another is it really any surprise that they have to rent out an entire five star hotel and ring it with security when they have nutjobs like Jones and his sycophants chasing them around with a bullhorn? Are you telling me that you believe that the “elites” could all get together and cooperate long enough to pull off a global coup? If you answer yes, my advice would be to seek help.

  14. Newt’s great. Only problem is his likability factor. The fact that he’s not cheery and pleasant, and that his last name is GinGRINCH–is going to be a problem. And people (especially women) can’t stand the guy for his personal life.

But I’d be satisfied with Newt. How awesome would a Gingrich/Cain ticket be. Conservatives would be fired up. Or vice versa.

    1. Looks, likability, cheery, pleasant???? These are not issues or reasons not to have Newt as a president. As far as names go – I have more of a problem with him being a cookie than a grinch (who turned out ok in the end)

See the real issues I posted in this thread.

      1. Sir, a man named Herman Cain was the presumptive grass-roots favorite up until this week. What changed this week? anything about his policies? his 9-9-9 fair tax plan? his energy plan? his chilean model social security plan?

A bunch of money-grubbing gold diggers who claimed that he sexually assaulted/rape/molested/might have been inappropriate with them. That’s it.

just mere allegations derailed an entire campaign.

It’s never about issues. I wish it was brotha.

        1. Character matters – and while I prefer it wasn’t about the allegations – I posted 30 issues why Cain should not be president either. There is nothing grass roots about him.

Once the issues and track record have been discussed – we should move on to the character – unfortunately – there’s a lot smoke here for him.
Face value – he’s a very likable person. I appreciate very much that people see themselves realistically and I perceive that he sees himself that way…. He’s just wrong so much though.

          1. No offense, but your “30 issues” is nothing more than a Ron Paul kook screed. You’re probably a nice and well-intentioned guy, so I don’t want to argue with you. Ron Paul is an old idiot that should never be commander of chief of the Costa Rican police academy, let alone the American military. Liberatarianism is not a main course, it’s a condiment. You need to pepper it in strategically, in certain areas.

          2. Dave……The question is compared to Who? If it’s Obama he is head and shoulders above him in every way and so is every person on that stage.

    2. That’s just the “Gingrich Who Stole Christmas” meme. He laughs more, is more easy going, and seems more relaxed and at home than any one else on that stage. Same way in interviews, like on Special Report the other night.

I think him and Cain together would definitely win.

      1. It’s a longshot. He’s cleaned up his image a little. Evidently his daughter wrote a piece clearing up the story about how he “served his cancer stricken wife with divorce papers on her death bed.” And he just recently said that his commercial with pelosi was a doozy.

But this god-damn librul press will devour anything we put up against that idiot destroying the country.

Image and style and pizazz and all that superfluous stuff actually matters. Sick but true.

        1. His daughter wrote about that a long time ago, it just keeps coming up because it’s a lie and and a lie repeated often is accepted as truth. It never happened. And it wasn’t a death bed. I’m not sure why it’s up to him to clean up his image when any questions about his image are complete fabrications. When someone falsely smears your reputation it should be on them to prove it, not the other way around.

All you have to do is remember when he was Speaker. He was enemy number 1 by the left because he was effective at his job. Cain is dealing with some of what Gingrich had to deal with nearly 20 years ago. He was a powerful conservative. Powerful conservatives are attacked by the media. That’s never going to change.

Not so much of a long-shot now that Perry is “imploding”, Palin is out of the picture, Cain is doing pretty good but Gingrich is going to be up in the top 3, will probably surpass Cain, and will be going toe to toe with Romney, who was never the conservative choice to begin with. That’s my prediction at least.

Politics is volatile and you can always be surprised.

            1. Unfortunately his chances of getting the nomination are predictable as well. Always ahead with a popular vote, usually dead last (or close) when it comes to votes. He has some good ideas but I don’t think he’s going to win the nomination.

Now his son Rand, well that’s a different story. Could definitely see him being President someday.

          1. Let’s face reality. Cain just isn’t ready for primetime. He’s getting swallowed alive. I gave him money last week, I hope it helps—-but it’s not looking promising. I hope I’m wrong.

What are we going to do if the plastic mormon is the nominee? We are SCREWED. Erick Ericson’s evisceration of Gerald Fordney was epic. More importantly, true!

And I think what we’re all forgetting is that which ever horse we back this year, is going to be an 8 year commitment. If Romneybot V. 20.12 is elected, we’re stuck with him for 2016. We’ll be wishing for the Bush years of David Souter, Harriet Miers, Dubai Ports, big government spending.

    3. Newt is the most likeable of the field, and that includes Cain. He’s the most positive, praises the other candidates, and is eloquent in his answers. The reason he’s rocketing in the polls is people LIKE substance, they LIKE a candidate who knows his history, and they LIKE a candidate who has experience across a vast range of issues and can actually talk about them in a way that is compelling, while at the same time offering real solutions for the problems America faces.

  15. How the economy works…

    At 1min. 1sec. –
    Questioner –
“What is the media reporting inaccurately about the economy?”

    Gingrich –
(… much laughter in support of Gingrich)

    Questioner –
“What is the media reporting inaccurately about the economy?”
(… asked while laughter and applause continues)

    Gingrich –
“I love humor disguised as a question.
    “That’s terrific.

“I have yet to hear a single reporter ask a single occupy Wall Street person a single rational question about the economy that would lead them to say for example, ‘whose going to pay for the park you’re occupying if there are no businesses making a profit?’ ”
(… much loud applause and whistling)

Gingrich is a heavyweight… hit back hard… and harder… and harder, Mr. Gingrich.

  16. Does anyone have a link to the entire debate? If Newt would just once fess up about his zipper troubles.

    1. Oh for crying out loud. You again with the “zipper troubles” comments. Can’t you come up with anything intelligent to say?

  17. Oh man Newt, that was good! LOL, “whaat?” Slap, slap! Thank you Newt, you keep them comin’. I missed the live debate because of church, but thank you TRS for putting all of these up. From the stupidity of the maroons asking the questions, and the audience reaction, I’d love to have CNBC host another Republican debate. These guys were on fire tonight.

  18. Nobody, but nobody is capable of delivering a smack down like Newt. If you are going to debate this guy you’d better show up armed with facts because the man will forcefeed you your own rhetoric.

  19. last night on special report newt said the nancy pelosi ad was the worst thing he’s ever done in his life….I believe him. I’m for him after he responded to that commercial last night.

  20. Newt, I’m getting a man crush. Don’t make me start rooting for you. You’ve always let me down. You’re like an ex-girlfriend who looks like a Victoria’s Secret model who promises to love me forever in exchange for buying her jewelry. Over and over again. Stop it. Stop it! STOP IT!!!

What a wicked game to play.
To make me feel this way.
What a wicked thing to do.
To make me dream of you.
I don’t wanna fall in love.

        1. Don’t care……he’s the smartest man running and will annihilate BO in any forum. That is THE objective.

          1. He is NO WHERE NEAR the smartest man running and the objective isn’t to “annihilate BO” – it’s to fix the economy.
You NEED TO CARE. Talk is cheap – it’s people’s track records and life’s history that truly matter. Study – care – read.

            1. Give it up Dave. Newt is the one to defeat Obama, and, that IS the objective. Because of Obama the economy has gotten worse and is not recovering. When Newt is president, it will be HIS objective to fix the economy. It is clear to everyone (possibly even you Dave) that fixing the economy IS NOT Obama’s objective – destroying it is. You need to pay attention Dave. Wake up. Everything Obama has done has not helped America. Not one thing.

  21. Wow that woman made her self look like such an idiot! Great job lady! you really think you are going to take on Newt? how stupid can you be… “what has the media reported inaccurately?” Hey lady, he has 30 seconds to answer. That question would take days even months to answer…

Im ready for an epic battle, where we win! we have the logic and the facts and the history to back up our opinions and I’m ready to defeat these idiots with knowledge!

  22. When I see a lot of hot girls on the beach , that’s eye candy to me . When I hear Newt speak , that’s ear candy to me . Newt is a smart smooth talking DC elitist . No thanks Newt . I’ll take the hot girls on the beach .

    1. Agreed. Newt has one of the sharpest tongues the GOP has ever seen. His track record leaves more than a little something to be desired though.

      1. His track record is in his biography on Wikopedia that is if your interested in more than just innuendo and liberal lies. He is not mistake free… wow!! how can that be? He’s a christian living a christian life now and I’m assuming God has forgiven his past sins. It takes almost a half page just to list his accomplishments. I want to see him eat the liberal press and Obama for breakfast every day for the next year and when he’s finished with that as president the Ninth Circuit judges who have been legislating from the bench are next on his list along with the Muslim terrorist organizations in this country. Sorry people Cain can’t hold a candle to Newt and it’s time to do your homework and stop trying to choose by who has the best sound bite of the day.

      1. No, No, No. You need to go watch his speech at the David Horowitz Restoration week-end. This election isn’t about sound bites. Watch this short excerpt and then tell me he needs to debate deadhead Biden.
You want a little history thrown in, find out who used Victory or Death in the American Revolution.

    1. They’d destroy Newt if he did that. But I will stand with him if he’s the nominee. I think the GOP has the right ticket of Cain and Newt or Newt and Cain. I think that ticket would wallop Obama in a landslide. I prefer Cain at the top because Newt is a known commodity to voters and voters, especially independents, gravitate to the new person. Not to mention, Cain excites people and is not afraid to go into any venue with his message. Cain’s reach is just greater than Newt’s. He can reach into the minority communities unlike any GOP candidate. But Newt would be an excellent nominee as well, but I think as VP he can be like Dick Cheney for Cain, but more likeable. Cain-Newt 2012!

    2. Good luck to see Maria Whateverthehellherlastnameis to remove Newt’s shoe from her rear end after that question.
