Liberals and other Trump-haters were chanting “impeachment!!” on Friday night when a New York Times dropped a bombshell report that the FBI was *already* investigating Trump on collusion even BEFORE Mueller came along!!!

In the days after President Trump fired James B. Comey as F.B.I. director, law enforcement officials became so concerned by the president’s behavior that they began investigating whether he had been working on behalf of Russia against American interests, according to former law enforcement officials and others familiar with the investigation.
The inquiry carried explosive implications. Counterintelligence investigators had to consider whether the president’s own actions constituted a possible threat to national security. Agents also sought to determine whether Mr. Trump was knowingly working for Russia or had unwittingly fallen under Moscow’s influence.
The investigation the F.B.I. opened into Mr. Trump also had a criminal aspect, which has long been publicly known: whether his firing of Mr. Comey constituted obstruction of justice.
Agents and senior F.B.I. officials had grown suspicious of Mr. Trump’s ties to Russia during the 2016 campaign but held off on opening an investigation into him, the people said, in part because they were uncertain how to proceed with an inquiry of such sensitivity and magnitude. But the president’s activities before and after Mr. Comey’s firing in May 2017, particularly two instances in which Mr. Trump tied the Comey dismissal to the Russia investigation, helped prompt the counterintelligence aspect of the inquiry, the people said.
To be honest, I’m not sure what the big deal is. People who think Trump colluded probably thought the FBI was investigating this already. And for people who think the FBI was corrupt and trying to tank Trump already, this just provides more evidence to that contention.

Here’s the problem – this doesn’t change hardly anything in the minds of either side on this issue. Just because they investigated something doesn’t mean that their subject was absolutely guilty of that thing. That’s the whole DAMN point of an investigation!!!
So what’s the point of all this?
The Jedi MindMeld trick they’re attempting is to say OK, we don’t *actually* need *actual* proof of collusion, that is, the Trump campaign plotting anything with the Russians. ALL we need to evidence that Trump fired Comey to stop the Russian investigation. Boom! Collusion!
They’re just moving the goalposts.
Guys, this won’t work. In order to impeach Trump, you need REAL evidence he did something wrong. If it’s all by IMPLICATION or CIRCUMSTANTIAL, it ain’t gonna fly. That’s not how this works, that’s not how any of this works. And if you keep heading down this road, you’re just gonna destroy your cause. SO good luck with that, idiots.
