NYT says intelligence officials are WITHHOLDING info about cyber-attacks on RUSSIA from Trump!

The New York Times is reporting that intelligence officials are implementing cyber-attacks on Russia, but purposely keeping information about them from Trump.

According to the report, they’re doing this because they’re afraid he’ll undermine the attacks or tell the Russians about them?!

OK, so, given how bad the state of our politics is today, I wouldn’t be surprised at this report. But there’s one glaring problem with it. If they don’t want Trump to know, WHY would they leak it to the New York Times? Clearly that would be only to embarrass him. If attacking Russia is such a state security emphasis, why jeopardize it just to make Trump look stupid? Very odd report, and even more odd that no one sees this incongruity about the story. Or am I just crazy here?

  1. The NYTIMES says a lot of s#%t. Doesn’t make it even close to actually being true. How many times have they run stories like this that turned out to be false?

    1. @ryan-o I tried taking that challenge to give you an accurate answer, but I ran out of fingers and toes after I barely got started counting.

  2. If true and they leaked it to the slimes then this rises to a higher level of incompetence and stupidity than I would have previously attributed to the CIA!

  3. I’ll withhold comment until it’s confirmed by the Washington Post, CNN and The Enquirer.

  4. Good idea “inteligence” idiots! Let’s hope Trump doesnt go to NYT, TRS or a dozen other outlets to get his news!

  8. The President explained this is more Fake News. The New York Slimes, as Levin calls them, is spewing misinformation yet again!

  9. Why are we committing cyber attacks against Russia? They may deserve it or maybe everybody is cyber attacking everybody and it is now the new normal. Admitting it just to demean Trump seems like a nearly treasonous action. Not surprising for the times.

  10. You’e 100% right. Talking about it, leaks it. My vote it is more of the Trump haters looking for dung to fling.

  11. The President explained this is more Fake News. The New York Slimes, as Levin calls them, is spewing misinformation yet again!

    1. Well, since the cyber activity described could/would/should be considered an act of war it is highly unlikely that such a move would be tolerated and should certainly be treated as treasonous if not properly authorized by the national command structure and without the President it could not be properly authorized.

      1. Thanks WHBates. Saw something last night ,the President telling us its another NY Times FAKE news story.

  12. Shh! Don’t tell anyone. :facepalmg: :silly: This is ridiculous. But, I can see it appealing to liberals who’ve lost all ability to think critically.

  13. This makes zero sense. They refused to tell Trump because they didn’t trust him not to tell the Russians, yet they leaked it to embarrass Trump. Not only did they fail at their attempt of hiding it from Trump, they informed the Russians as well! They did exactly what they claimed they were afraid Trump would do. Morons.

      1. @teri-smith Nope. We have seen repeatedly that they put out false information and their unnamed sources give it to them. Some people don’t even believe the sources exist. It’s just made up.

    1. If this story is true, it would make sense in that the Times has in the past gone out of its
way to sabotage American security and especially to tip off enemies about undercover activities.

Thus, the Times gets to warn the Russians while simultaneously making the President
look weak in that his own intelligence crew keep him out of the loop.

The question is: why aren’t they prosecuted for treason, or at least fired?

But can a journalist go to jail after publishing the information?

There’s no official standard for when it’s a crime for a journalist to publish leaked information, because the government has never prosecuted such a case. But there’s speculation that the “direct, immediate, and irreparable harm” standard would apply. Also, a journalist can’t be punished for publishing info that was obtained illegally, as long as the journalist didn’t do anything illegal.

  14. Assuming America is conducting cyber-attacks on Russia, the NYT just exposed that and possibly made America less safe. This is why I often accuse Leftists and the damned, criminal MSM as enemies of America. They should be punished and the “leaker” put in jail.

  15. I agree with you Soop. Even if we give them leeway about not trusting Trump it doesn’t add up as to why they would leak it to the NYT. Someone clearly wanted to make a story out of it more than they wanted to keep it secret, and the only reason that could be is because they don’t like Trump.

Regardless of what they believe, if Trump is supposed to be briefed on these matters they should do it regardless. He’s the President and no one elected them to circumvent our votes. If Trump screws up it’s on us to remove him next year.

But we can’t take it for granted that this is a legitimate story. Unnamed sources lie all the time and the idiotic news media keeps using those sources despite getting egg on their faces.

  17. “……..WHY would they leak it to the New York Times?”
Maybe the New York Slimes { Levin } just made to whole story up. No love lost between them and Trump.

  19. Your analysis is right on.

Think about whatever is the worst thing anyone can do to undermine Trump, then the country. Follow the anger and lack of patriotism and you have a story that makes total sense.

The sad part is I’m glad we’re doing this to Russia and it gets leaked just to piss off Trump at the expense of undermining an intelligence operation.

The NY Slimes and the left are so hellbent on bringing down Trump that in their sick heads, the ends justify the means – even if it means leaking this type of information.

A pox on all of their houses.

  20. Let me have this again we have intelligence officials withholding their Cyber Attack on Russia, but you will not tell our commander in chief, the President.Who made that decision. Can’t wait to hear what the President has to say to those employees at the Pentagon and Intelligence.Still lots of Obama people who need to be removed, but for eight years they fed that information to Obama,go figure.

    1. @bigsir74 According to them they aren’t required to tell Trump. If it’s normal operations it begs the question why they leaked it to the press. Why not just continue with their expected duties? There can only be one reason…to put their fingers in Trump’s eyes.

      1. exactly Kong, can’t tell Trump, however leaking it to the press,no problem.I do not think the President will take this too well. Thanks Kong Always great to hear from you.

          1. I,m sure both of us will have something to say.I’ll be back monday got someone to visit with tomorrow, then I will probably go to the Casino.Have a nice Father’s Day.

              1. This is the way it happens Every sunday I visit my wife at the national Cemetery where she is Buried..Afterwards I have lunch near the Cemetery at a very nice Mexican Restaurant. This has occurred for the past 2 and 1/2 years. The Kids invited me over for Fathers day,but elected to go to visit my wife.regarding the Casino,I am just a penny players who just wanted to finish out the day being busy. Thanks Kong.

    1. @nc-checks-and-balances Awww man! All of my roaches are cooked. Guess I miss out on making sense of this story.

  21. You’e 100% right. Talking about it, leaks it. My vote it is more of the Trump haters looking for dung to fling.

  22. Sooper, you’re not crazy. I was thinking the same thing as I read about it. Doesn’t make any sense and does make intelligence officials look bad if it’s just to jab at Trump.

  23. I don’t think you are crazy – but I think both the fools at the NYT and whoever leaked it to them must be. Don’t they see that it makes no sense?

      1. Given that a lot of what they say and “report” is mindless drivel and unfounded accusations I don’t expect anything rational from them.

But this is all them, Trump said nothing, it’s an unforced error and beyond that it’s stupid. These are the people that think they are so much smarter than the rest of us. We aren’t all as dumb as their side is.

  24. According to the report, they’re doing this because they’re afraid he’ll undermine the attacks or tell the Russians about them?

What? I’m sure this is probably fake news but if it isn’t then the entire bureaucracy would have need for dismantling. It already appears the FBI is in need of serious reorganization. Maybe the entire IC need restructuring or dismantling all together.

  25. “Pentagon, intelligence officials fear…” = we made them up so you believe Trump is still a Russian spy. The desperation from the NYT rag is astounding.

    1. Astounding yes and more than a little pathetic. The hate they spew makes them prove to a rational public that they are not about news but about doing whatever they can to damage POTUS. Even a lot of Democrats are getting tired of the continuing media attempted coup of an elected president.
