Obama in 2007: Those who can afford it will have to pay more for energy

We know Obama has intentionally slowed down the granting oil permits on federal land and that he lies about the 4 billion in subsidies going to the oil companies as well as the amount of underground oil we have in America. We also know that the rise in gas prices has a lot to do with the price or crude oil which is affected by global demand and Middle East tensions. I’m not saying Obama has single-highhandedly raised the price of crude oil. However, I am suggesting that Obama does play a part in our high gas prices and could do a lot to cause the prices to come back down:

Markets are driven on a global basis by expectation. If the market heard the President of the United States say I’m serious about producing my vast energy resources, you will see an impact in the market.

So take all that into consideration when you watch the video below that is simply more proof that Obama has always intended to increase energy prices. And he said this BEFORE his infamous “Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket” 2008 remark (h/t: Your Daddy)

HOST: Following on mike’s question. You’ve earned the reputation in the campaign for sometimes saying things that people don’t want to hear. I remember you calling teachers, saying merit pay might need to be on the table in America. You told peace activists that, no, we may in fact have to spend more to rebuild the military that’s been wrecked in Iraq. You just mentioned going to Detroit and telling — give me some examples of what you will tell Americans that we don’t necessarily want to hear.

OBAMA: Well, number one, we’re going to have to start doing a better job of conserving on energy. Americans like to drive their big SUVs. They like to leave all the lights on in their house. We’re going to have to change our habits.

If we want to deal with the climate change, which I think we have to deal with — we’re seeing already down in the southeast, they’re seeing drought that they haven’t seen in a very long time. Western states, same problem.

It is indisputable that the climate is getting warmer. That’s going to affect farmers. It’s going to affect ordinary folks. If we want to do something serious about that, it’s not going to be painless.

We’re going to have to cap the emission of greenhouse gasses. That means that power plants are going to have to adjust how they generate power. They will pass on those costs to consumers. We will have to guard against lower income and fixed income individuals having to pay more for electricity, but a lot of us who can afford it are going to have to pay more per unit of electricity, and that means we’re going to have to change our light bulbs, we’re going to have to shut the lights off in our houses.

And those are adjustments that won’t over the long term affect our standard of the living, but it does mean that we’ve got to show some responsibility to the next generation, something we haven’t been doing.

  1. The impact of his decisions will come at the expense of high oil prices in the future. If he would have drilled from the beginning we would reap the benefits in the future. Yet, we won’t. The higher prices will come under another President…who will get the blame much in the same way Obama is taking credit for the drilling that is being done now.

  2. Obama is worried about how the next generation will deal with a 1 degree increase in climate over the next 100 years (hint- short sleeves) but thinks they will have no problem dealing with the trillions of dollars of additional debt he has laid upon them.

  3. I have an idea — Obama should boot Biden and replace him with Mitt Romney. Mitt could finally come out of the closet and confess his progressiveness for all to see!

Good grief! We are in deep trouble with this election. If your state hasn’t had a primary yet, when it does, PLEASE vote for Rick Santorum. Newt is all but out, but Rick still has a fighting chance.

  4. …what a JOKE you all have for a President .”

P.S. Wake up AMERICA , if not you can turn out the lights NOW !”

    1. Speaking off jokes and lights. I just received a post card from the federal government. It says;

“Do to cut backs and global warming, the light at the end of the tunnel has been extinguished.”

OBAMA’S energy policies have cost US citizens trillions either directly and indirectly – in the form of jobs, inflation, and expense as well as Obama’s cronies’ (#@$%^&*) green energy money-laundering schemes.

Of course, he and his friends – OPEC, Soros, Buffett, oil speculators and investors -have been richly rewarded.

    1. WOW- You’ve got the read this Americans doing what American’s do best. Thinking for themselves. Acting without Obama/Mama approval.-Thanks Trust

  6. I really would like to hear what people who voted Bozo in 2008 think about the Joker’s platform now, item by item.

He sounds like a candidate for class president at a high school in South Chicago. How could anyone take Little Dipstick seriously?

  7. “…but a lot of us who can afford it are going to have to pay more per unit of electricity…”

How exactly do you go about distinguishing income levels before charging someone for energy? Will your electric bill be based on your tax return? Will there be bridge cards for electric bills? Maybe all electric bills can just be sent to the 1% and let them pay all the bills for the 99%.

Hey! Let’s do that with all our bills!

  8. If money was considered to be our lifeblood, aren’t we just about bled out? With Obama you know exactly where you stand…………….in the unemployment line!

  9. The best way that we can address the energy problem is by firing this entire administration in November. Even if the tree-hugging Obaminites lose the albatross that is Health care, they still have to deal with that other albatross that is high gas prices.

      1. Anyone with a job is a one percenter. Funny thing is I think the number of one percenters is actually 47 %.

  10. Obama is owned by OPEC, Soros, Buffet and other oil speculators. The more we pay – the more they make.

Same with the FED – they manipulate energy prices, food prices, interest rates AND currency to make big profits for themselves.

They don’t give a gnat’s eyelash about us.

    1. If ZERO – indicated he would aprove 100 new drilling permits on Friday

The price of gasoline would drop by Friday 12 noon

I guarantee that by the election – Gas will be $3.25 or LESS

    2. Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin are the only two who have a handle on common people’s needs and practical everyday problems.

Both have actual RECORDS of doing something about corruption and cronyism…even in their own party.

Dennis Miller said a year or two ago that Newt Gingrich should run with Sarah Palin in 2012 – using the slogan: Newtie and the Beauty!

  11. obama likes people to BELIEVE he is FOR the “middle class” – BUT HE IS NOT!!! Middle class is treated EXACTLY THE SAME AS WEALTHY BY OBAMA POLICIES.

Under obamacare, my insurance rates would go UP, BUT, I WOULD NOT QUALIFY FOR ASSISTANCE BECAUSE I MAKE JUST A TEENY TINY BIT TOO MUCH MONEY. SO I NOT ONLY GET SCREWED PAYING HIGHER PREMIUMS, BUT I STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR EVERYONE ELSE WHO “CAN’T AFFORD” TO PAY!

Same with “NECESSARILY SKYROCKETING” eletricity rates. My rates will go up, but I will NOT QUALIFY for assistance, but I will not only have to FIND more to pay MY BILL, BUT I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR EVERYONE ELSE WHO “CAN’T AFFORD” TO PAY!

    ANTI-MIDDLE-CLASS!!!!!

      1. Hey, Scoop, how about an Open Thread. I have something I’d like to post not related to any of our stories. It is a great article from Esquire Magazine about what combat vets think but are unable, usually to put into words. Therefore, we don’t say anything.

  12. Sorry Scoop… I can’t even stand the sight of him and certainly won’t listen to him.

What I find amazing is that he incriminates himself (almost on a daily basis) more than anyone could from the right, simply by reviewing his own words over time.

And the deaf and blind dumbmasses still vote for this fake. We’re doomed if this doesn’t change.

  13. How are “those who can afford it” supposed to be singled out for higher rates by the electric company so that they can “pay more” while everyone who can’t afford to pay more are allowed to slide.

It’s idiotic populist dogma that lets fools believe they can “stick it to the rich” while not hurting themselves at the same time.

    1. How will they be singled out? By the income tax they file.

Now be good citizens and put on you sweaters, turn down your thermostats, and make sure all your light bulbs look like a curly Q.

Oh… and you rich people…you must buy a Chevy Volt by next January or we will fine you the amount a new Volt costs. ($40,000+)

      1. My point is, nobody is going to give their power company their financial records, nor will we allow our government to do so.

The entire premise is designed to appeal to idiots. No sane person would stand for paying power rates on a sliding scale based on income.

  14. What a f*cking POS, NO GOOD [email protected]*RD!!!!! MORE REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH TO THOSE WHO CAN’T AFFORD HIGHER RATES! WELL, I CAN’T AFFORD HIGHER RATES, BUT I WON’T QUALIFY FOR ASSISTANCE, BUT I WILL DAMN SURE HAVE TO CHIP IN TO PAY FOR OTHERS!!!

VOTE THIS MOFO OUT IN NOVEMBER!!!! PLEEEEEEEEEEEASE PEOPLE! ANYONE BUT OBAMA!!!!!!

      1. I’m trying to figure out whether he is griping that he wants to get on assistance or if he is griping about his power bill being too high or……

          1. It’s no different from a big fish in college football moving to the pro’s, WFM. They find that what was superlative in school is slow and amaturish up here. They will pick it up or be put on waivers. LOL

  15. While I loathe the thought of my saying this, I think it’s become institutionally necessary: should there we some statute protecting the wealthy from this type of discrimination? I mean, “wealth” certainly shouldn’t be a “protected class,” but it’s the same old tired kind of Leftist ideology being used against us, isn’t it? “You don’t like the President, so you’re a racist.” “Our country is going bankrupt, so you must pay more.” I honestly don’t see all that much difference ideologically. It’s always trying to pin the blame on the donkey, if you ask me.

    1. Absolutely! Wealth is a civil right! Have to word it properly so people don’t spin it as you have the right to be wealthy, though. Let me think about this. Sounds like a worthy amendment.

      1. Along those lines, I have a problem with all of the “fairness” BS. Fact is, when libs talk about wealthy folks getting big breaks at the cost of the poor, what they really mean is the poor aren’t getting as much free stuff payed for by the rich. It is completely wrong and disingenuous.

        1. Well, yeah, that’s precisely right. Fairness — in terms of life — is simply not possible to legislate. You know why? Because life ain’t fair! These charlatans every day go to the hallowed halls in Washington with little more than an agenda to take away from those who’ve “earned” with the purpose to give it to those they feel “deserve.” What’s inherently fair about that?

  16. Obama in 2007: Those who can afford it will have to pay more for energy

Where is this written in our Constitution?

    PS
obama, since you have stolen our money, you are the only one that can afford it, so you can pay for our energy with your stash.
