Obama Threatens To Veto Republican Bill Designed To Improve Security Screening Of Refugees

President Obama vowed Wednesday to veto H.R. 4038, which would require the Secretary of Homeland Security, the Director of the FBI, and the Director of National Intelligence—to certify for each Syrian or Iraqi refugee that they are not a threat to national security.

From Truth Revolt:

The statement was perfectly clear on the President’s intention.

“Given the lives at stake and the critical importance to our partners in the Middle East and Europe of American leadership in addressing the Syrian refugee crisis, if the President were presented with H.R. 4038, he would veto the bill.”

The House will likely see a vote tomorrow. The bill, which is sponsored by Homeland Security Chairman Michael McCaul, R-Texas, would frustrate the administration’s plans to fast track Syrian refugees. Republicans believe reform is necessary for the sake of security.

Under the current vetting process, terror has already slipped through the cracks.
