I can see why he’s saying it’s contrary to our dearly held value of free speech, but at a certain point we also need to keep the value of defending our citizenry from interior threats. Really it comes down to seeing just how it is that such a program would be implemented – if it’s too heavy handed then yes, it would violate the Constitution, but there are ways of maintaining individual rights while defending America.
