***UPDATED WITH VIDEO – Reid calls Sen. Cruz a ‘schoolyard bully’ on Senate floor

***UPDATED WITH VIDEO OF FULL EXCHANGE BELOW***

Unlike many Republicans, Ted Cruz won’t accept defeat just because the GOP didn’t get their way on the Senate budget. He is still fighting to ensure there are no tax increases or debt ceiling increases, suggesting that Harry Reid make any motion to raise either of the two out of order. Harry Reid, unhappy with Cruz’s request, calls him a schoolyard bully. Ha!

Name calling, is that all you got Harry Reid?

THE HILL – Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) called freshman GOP Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) a “schoolyard bully” during a contentious exchange Monday on the Senate floor.

The two senators bickered as Cruz rose to object to Reid’s motion to appoint conferees to a House-Senate budget committee.

Cruz said he was concerned that the conference report—which cannot be filibustered—would be used to raise the nation’s debt ceiling. He asked that Reid amend his motion to go to conference to make out of order any provisions raising taxes or raising the debt ceiling.

Reid said Cruz had a chance to amend the Senate budget—which raises $975 billion in new tax revenue from tax reform—when it was considered on the floor.

He said Cruz’s request to eliminate all taxes in a final House-Senate budget was absurd.

“The senator from Texas was on the losing side…now he wants us to adopt the losing side’s view or we cannot go to conference,” Reid said.

“My friend from Texas is like a schoolyard bully,” Reid added.

Cruz, a Tea Party darling whose rhetoric has sometimes raised eyebrows among Republicans, shot back that “I wasn’t aware we are in the schoolyard.”

Reid cut him off saying “enough.”

“Why are my Republican colleagues so afraid?” Reid asked Monday in making his request. “We have our differences but Democrats aren’t afraid to work out those differences.”

Reid accused the GOP of “whining” about the Senate not producing a budget for four years and then refusing to bring about a conference.

  1. obarkey and his usefull idiots are the bullies in the schoolyard….horrible harry is off his meds again…

  2. Harried is a whining, cowardly, Fascist Bully extrordinaire!  Whence his temerity to cast aspersions at a true Patriot like Cruz?

  3. That’s funny coming from the school yard “P” boy.  What a whining, backstabbing, un-American loser!

  4. Interesting, it seems Reid just like the Mulatto needs a TelePrompTer to get his words right..  Talking off the cuff is very dangerous thing…   They remind me of the elections for 1952 when I was in High School..  The talking heads held a debate to show how the government choose their runners..   As one tried to make a point the other gargled with water, then all heck broke loose and they again became children..   Congress just has gotten older, but the children’s mind is there…   Reid was nothing 60 years ago, the improvements FAILED..

  5. The freshman tea party favorite is accused of bullying the the left wing communist snobs. Ah yes folks,  I think we have a real winner in Sen Cruz. The freshman that is feared and dispised by both the Establishment on the left and on the right.

    1. @WG2,    your on iT dog gone iT! Cruz has the Dem Jazzerz and the old GOPizzers  worried.

  6. I think it is funny he keeps going on and on about regular order and playing by the rules but trying to change the rules when you don’t like the results. Reid, I have a mirror for you. I think you need to look in it. You are the one who keeps trying to change rules like filibustering so you can shove things down everyone’s throats!

      1. JIM737 crosshr
hehe ! me , convicted for sayin nothing. I thot thinking not count !

  7. The US Communist Party and state controlled media have been given orders from the Red House to “Palinize” Cruz because he is a threat to their communistic ideals.

  8. If I were Senator Cruz I would have responded “Would the Majority Leader like to take this outside, than I can show him how much of a bully I can be” than go and kick his A**!!

    1. DarkKnight2016 DarkKnight, that was genius. I would give a whole months pay to see that.

  9. I thought that there were Senate rules that you cannot insult each other on the floor. No? Anyone have info on this?
‘Cuz if you can’t, someone just broke the rules – or opened up pandora’s box for calling each other names on the floor.
“I wasn’t aware we are in the schoolyard.” – Heh. Classic.

    1. SurfinCowboy Yup – classic! Loved it!
They just don’t know how to deal with Ted Cruz, whereas he’s got the measure of them.

  10. How many of you even know who Harry Reid is?  No, really?  We all know he is the Senate Majority Leader and that he wields a lot of power, more than most of other Politicians in Washington.  Sometimes, its a good idea to take a break and read a little about the history of these people.
From Wikipedia, not my favorite source of accurate information, but it will suffice for Harry Reid.

  11. Never quite saw it this way – but
    it’s an interesting assessment.

The higher you go in the corporate (and political)

  12. By ‘Schoolhouse Bully’ do you mean like how the Democrats in the Senate and House pushed Obamacare down the throats of the American people?

  13. I enjoyed that immensely.   What you see here is a Junior Senator from the Great State of Texas, slapping Reid upside the head, and saying, “You’re not going to get away with all this bull##it any more as long as I am here.  Get used to it.”
Well, Harry Reid is not used to this.  Actually, Washington as a whole, is not used to this.  Ted Cruz is an anomaly on the Washington landscape.  If he stays true to his convictions and doesn’t cave, he may well wind up being the reincarnation of Reagan.  Faced with all we are faced with right now, he has that chance.
No one in my mind, can replace Reagan.  Let me make that perfectly clear.  Closest would be Sarah.  But if we can rebuild what is left of the Republican Party, based on a Reagan platform, Ted Cruz would be the one to do it.
The intense hatred the Left already has for Ted Cruz, tells me he is the one we need to get behind.  The Left always tells you the one they don’t want you to run.  It’s just so much fun to watch.  Here is a Junior Senator from Texas, telling the Great Harry Reid, “you don’t know what you’re doing.”  Usually, Harry Reid doesn’t even respond to criticism, especially from a Junior Senator.  But this time its different.  The Junior Senator from Texas was in his face, which is where Ted Cruz has been since he was elected.  And Harry Reid doesn’t like it.  Not one bit.
Here’s the problem Harry Reid and the rest of the Progressives face.  Ted Cruz isn’t going anywhere.  Right now, he is the Left’s worst nightmare.  We have to get behind him.

    1. white531
white, too funny, too truthful, and I care less whatever harry often cry about, Cruz have my attention

  14. Ted Cruz is driving these guys nuts. I love it!!! Whatsa matter Dingy? I thought you were a fomer boxer? Don’t got any fire in you? Damn sissy. He felt so good dissing Romney last year, and now he’s whining like a little b****!

  15. Haha, it’s like the senior who’s doing his final year over for the third time calling the top freshman a bully.

  16. The pot calling the kettle black, Boy Harry you got a lot of balls saying that Cruz is a bully, You the biggest POS bullying garbage slinger in the Senate. Before you say BS like this best you look in the mirror !

  17. People like this fool Dingy Harry remain in office due to the gerrymandering of districts and winning pork barrel projects for their state almost guaranteeing their reelection!

  18. That’s not the way we do things around here ehh Harry? You men that is not the way you use to do things.Go get them Honorable Senator Cruz!

  19. When I feel so powerless to see a guy in this case Cruz out there in Washington doing his job all by himself, watching this guy fight just blows my mind as to why McConnel is still the minority leader and why the hell should we or the people in his state reelect him again. I am so pissed off and frustrated I have no words to describe it .ughhhhhhhh

  20. What Cruz is, is principled. Something which Dingy Harry wouldn’t know anything about. Cruz is a rare creature to these idiots. He doesn’t change with whichever way the wind blows, and that scares the heck out of them.

  21. Someone call the daycare center, I think one of the toddlers escaped!!
Seriously, dude. Both you and Boehner should have a playdate because you guys are a bunch of whiny crybabies! WAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!
    -_-

    1. SilentTexan
Shoot Tex, not just one but a whole bunch of spoiled brats and we finally have an adult with a paddle.

      1. toongoon SilentTexan
He knows how to use it. There he’s doing a daily service arse wooping of both sides of the isle’s old no gravitas no brain ________________….

    2. SilentTexan Someone call the old folks center and tell them that there is an mad old Senator running the Senate who needs to be committed.

    1. Conservative_Hippie
He’s living rent free in that empty space where most people have brains.

  22. “Wherever you have an efficient government you have a dictatorship.”
Harry S. TrumanThe old man doesn’t know any other way of confronting knowledge and truth.

  23. Reid’s just projecting.  It’s what psychopathological leftist ideologues do.  Their minds are sickened by their way of thinking and acting…sin sickness.

  24. I think most of us on TRS have Reid figured out…..but what about the voters in NV?????  They keep sending his bitter ol’ butt back to the Senate time after time.  What is wrong with those voters?  I just don’t understand what value they see in ol’ Reid.  I honestly don’t.

    1. Army_Pilot1967 I believe the voters in NV like Reid’s bullying tactics.  Kind of like the old saying “he’s an SOB, but he’s our SOB”.  This is what our country has come to — the government taking wealth from others and redistributing it to their friends and constituents.  Reid is the avatar of the modern grasping politician.  If you are a grasping constituent, you want him on your side.   This is why Reid gets reelected.

      1. CBDenver Army_Pilot1967 In the early nineties, at the beginning of the dot com boom, californians chased their jobs to the area (Reno and Vegas). They brought their liberalism with them. To my horror Reno is now called, “Art Town.” Keep in mind it is “california” voters, not Nevada voters.

        1. JJ the terrible CBDenver Army_Pilot1967 And they are now doing the same to TX.

    2. Army_Pilot1967
Unions, among other things. All of our politicians have figured out how to keep getting themselves reelected.

    3. Army_Pilot1967 There’s a reason he promised amnesty for tens of millions of illegal alien invaders. Wonder how many citizens helped the illegals vote for Reid last go around.

    4. Army_Pilot1967 Harry brings lots of federal money home to Nevada, effectively buying his office.

    5. Army_Pilot1967 Don’t forget dingy was helped along in his last election by the SEIU bussing in all the illegal hotel staff to vote, his son’s company owned some of the voting machines and then there was the complete lack of GOP support for Sharron Angle.  other than that, there are still plenty of morons who continually vote for these morons.

  25. I hope Cruz shames EVERY SINGLE GOP Senator into being the leaders the people voted them into being.  Maybe they will start standing up to Reid and the rest of the Dems when they see the voters ALL standing behind Cruz!  You go Cruz…keep it up…you are making all of us VERY PROUD CONSERVATIVES.

    1. suzy000 Remember cowards have no shame, for the sake of Bi-partisan……

  26. Harry Reid is a condesending piece of excrement but what I love most is the fact Cruz is getting under his skin. Talking out of both sides of his mouth, Reid on one hand says we should all be reasonable and work together on the other hand you’d better not object to what we want to do.

  27. I think Cruz is one of us.  Be a bully if that’s what it take.  Reid is the school yard “I’m gonna tell the teacher” guy.

    1. BikerHoop  Been a long time since I heard that one. Still a favorite when applied to blowhards.

  28. I wasn’t aware we were in a schoolyard either but if we were I’d want Cruz on my side against the bullying of Reid. Hypocrite as usual, you can always tell what liberals are doing and thinking by what they accuse Republicans and conservatives of doing and thinking. So predictable.

  29. I’m really starting to like this Cruz. From what I’m seeing, he could easily outshine Reagan.

    1. pushtheredbutton   Don’t go too far, push.  Nobody will ever outshine Reagan.  Nobody.

  30. I think Cruz was very calm throughout that bilge Reid was spouting. I certainly would not have been so cordial. It’s about time more people stand up to miscreants like Reid in Congress.

    1. Libertyship46 You’re so polite Libertyship. I’d never make it as a politician. I’d not be so reserved or calling them a lot stronger words than miscreant.  I wonder if anyone in the senate has heard the term crapweasel yet.

    2. Libertyship46  That is one of the awesome things I love about Cruz. He is totally unflappable yet slices his opponents. If Zorro was a senator, he would be Cruz!

  31. Glad Cruz stood his ground. It seems he is one of the few in the GOP who are willing to call out the Dems and his own party as well. I hope he stays true to his principles because if he does he’d make a great president.

  32. I’m sick to death of this over paid, over stayed, overly idiotic, overly senile OLD man. Reid should have been out of Washington  39 years ago.
“It is ESSENTIAL to such a government that it be derived from the great body of
    the society, not from an inconsiderable proportion, or a favored class of it;
otherwise a handful of tyrannical nobles, exercising their oppressions by a
delegation of their powers, might aspire to the rank of republicans, and claim
for their government the honorable title of republic.” James Madison, Fed. Paper No. 39

      1. njmom couldn’t agree more. When I was writing out that first sentence, I had to think for a minute and remind myself it was dingy I was talking about and not one of the multitudes of other over paid over stayed overly idiotic overly OLD ones.

  33. Oh really? Who bullied Congress into passing obamacare? Who’s trying to bully Americans into giving up their 2nd Amendment rights? Who’s trying to bully Congress into opening the floodgates of immigration and “legalizing” millions of illegal aliens? Who bullied the coal industry into near extinction? I could go on for pages.

    1. lawngreen”Who’s trying to bully Congress into opening the floodgates of immigration and “legalizing” millions of illegal aliens?” Well the Liberal Lite Libertarians and Marco Rubio, John McCain, Jeff Flake and Lindsey Graham are helping the Dems with this one.

      1. Orangeone
Yes. They are all guilty. Flake is a flake, McCain is a pain, and Graham is crackers. And I give Rubio bad Marcs for his performance, too.

  34. I like Cruz because he’s hated by the people that are  conspiring to destroy the country.

  35. Breaking!! Ted Cruz was reduced to tears on the senate floor today after Reid call him a bully.
    /

    lol!!!

      1. americalsgt firegeorge  I don’t wish him dead I just wish him gone from our sight forever.

  36. Wonder if reid has any idea the names that clear thinking, tax paying America loving citizens have for him?

      1. americalsgt  Yours is much, much better! My heart skipped a beat at the very idea of  Senator Cruz being our president! 🙂

        1. americalsgt  Me to and never more so than when someone else is doing the making.
