Condi Rice had the most ‘no’ votes in history of any Secretary of State nominee during her confirmation process two months before the 40th anniversary of Selma.
Senator Dick Durbin was among the no votes.
But this is what he said yesterday regarding the pending confirmation of AG nominee Lynch, who just like Condi, is a Black Woman:
“I would think, as we approach the 50th anniversary of Selma, that Republicans should be more sensitive about what they’re doing to this woman.”
CHUTZPAH!
David Weigel who wrote the Durbin story for Bloomberg did not challenge Durbin on his hypocrisy nor did Senator Tim Scott point this out when he defended the GOP’s opposition to Lynch.
Those three things – a Democrat being shockingly brazen, a “reporter” not calling out this Chutzpah, and the GOP going on defense instead of offense – is why the GOP keeps losing battles with the Democrats, including what appears now the DHS funding bill.
