The ratings are in on Trump’s presidential address – Here’s who WON and lost…

Fox News did really well last night, crushing the other cable news channels in total viewers and beating them in the Demo as well:

Fox News dominated MSNBC and CNN during coverage of President Trump’s Oval Office address and Democratic response on Tuesday night, according to early Nielsen data.

Fox News averaged 8 million viewers from 9-9:30 p.m. ET, while MSNBC averaged 4.2 million and CNN averaged 3.6 million sets of eyeballs.

Among the key demo of adults age 25-54, Fox News averaged 1.8 million, compared to 1.4 million demo viewers for CNN while MSNBC failed to crack the 1 million viewer plateau.

If you look at the broadcast networks, CBS clearly beat everybody in total viewers, but ABC won the Demo, according to Adweek:

  • CBS: 8,092,000 / 1,709,000 (9 – 9:30 p.m. ET)
  • NBC: 7,400,000 / 2,753,000 (9-9:25 p.m. ET)
  • ABC: 5,463,000 / 1,790,000 (9-9:20 p.m. ET)
  • Fox: 2,961,000 / 1,297,000 (9-9:20 p.m. ET)

What’s interesting is how well Fox News did in all categories against the broadcast networks. They averaged nearly the same Demo viewers as CBS and ABC, and pretty much equaled CBS in total viewership. For a cable network, that is quite the dominating performance.
