Trump advisor apologizes for nasty Trudeau remarks

Trump’s protectionist economic advisor has come out and apologized for the nasty remarks he made about Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau:

BLOOMBERG – White House trade adviser Peter Navarro apologized for suggesting Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau deserved a “special place in hell” for a perceived breach in protocol against U.S. President Donald Trump.

“My job was to send a signal of strength,” he said at a Wall Street Journal CFO Network conference in Washington on Tuesday. “The problem was that in conveying that message I used language that was inappropriate.”

Citing Chinese philosopher Confucius, Navarro said “if you make a mistake and don’t correct it, that’s a mistake.”

“My job was to send a signal of strength.”

It looks like El Sooper was el correcto about this being just a show to make Trump look strong:

…this made Trump look weak before the summit in North Korea, so they had to hit back hard. And that means this is all for show, with little substance to the attacks.

The problem is it didn’t make Trump look strong. It made it look like one of his advisors was a jackass. And I think that’s gonna stick.
