Trump ain’t letting the Alabama thing go; And San Francisco calls the NRA a terrorist organization…

Yesterday we suggested Trump just let the Alabama thing go, but clearly he didn’t take our advice. Here’s a couple of tweets from Trump in the last few minutes:

Trump is certainly relentless on this issue.

In other news that I meant to get to yesterday…

NY TIMES – Unsettled by recent mass shootings across the nation, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a resolution this week declaring the National Rifle Association a domestic terrorist organization.

The resolution was introduced by Supervisor Catherine Stefani on July 30, two days after a shooting at a garlic festival in Gilroy, Calif., in which three people were killed and more than a dozen others injured.

While the resolution has no practical effect, Ms. Stefani said in an interview on Wednesday, “I firmly believe that words matter, and I think this is a step in fighting the negative impact of the N.R.A.”

The N.R.A. saw the action as a publicity stunt.

“This is just another worthless and disgusting ‘sound-bite remedy’ to the violence epidemic gripping our nation,” Amy Hunter, a spokeswoman for the association, said in a statement on Wednesday. “This is a reckless assault on a law-abiding organization, its members, and the freedoms they all stand for. We remain undeterred, guided by our values and belief in those who want to find real solutions to gun violence.”

Just when we think they’ve reached the limit of how loony they can be…

Seriously, this is absurd on all levels. The NRA has no power whatsoever over federal, state and local governments. Here’s the Great One expanding on it:

And lastly, this is an open thread! Hurray!

  1. The NRA is. of course, notorious for its violent protests in the streets and beating of journalists.

No, wait, I think that’s Antifa.

Is the NRA the terrorist organization that is always declaring jihad against infidels?

Or am I thinking of ISIS, or Al Qaeda, or the Muslim Brotherhood?

Wasn’t the FBI famous for building bombs? Or was that the Weather Underground?

Wait, I’ve got it! It’s the NRA that puts on sheets and masks and burns crosses in the middle … No, that’s not right.

The only terrorism the NRA does is all the junk mail they keep sending me, telling me my membership is going to expire at any minute.

  2. The current Democratic party along with some Republicans, in my opinion should be labeled as a terrorist organization. With what they are doing to the bill of rights, mainly the second amendment with all kinds of unconstitutional laws. Also, the lack of securing our borders, having sanctuary cities for criminals to live freely. Hillary Clinton along with many others, should be in federal prison for life.

As for the NRA, they are not the same organization that I once believed they were. GOA is a leaner and more effective organization in my opinion.

  3. We just held a vote here and resolved to label San Francisco’s city council a terrorist organization.

It was close. We had one aye, one abstention, and one shrug.

    1. I cannot imagine why your resolution didn’t pass by a landslide. It definitely had my vote.

I think the shrug may have come from AT even though that isn’t usually her style.

Did you see that Devin Nunnes is suing Fusion GPS under the RICO laws? He is looking for damages also. I say hurrah!!!!

        1. He was on Levin and said that Fusion GPS with a front group kept filing ethical charges against him when he outed them. It was their way of trying to intimidate him for alerting the President that something fishy was going on. Wasn’t it Mike Rogers who then told Trump that he was being wiretapped? I believe so.

Well, Nunes has been entirely vindicated.

I do think that this strategy needs to be embraced by others who have been subjected to threats by Lefty Groups. It would be great if the NRA goes after the San Francisco Supervisors for defamation.

    1. I actually think that that is an appropriate response. Sue these Lefty Supervisors personally AND the City of San Francisco.

  4. The San Francisco resolution is both silly and counterproductive, as it diminishes what a terrorist actually is. In general, a terrorist is someone who engages in unlawful activity with the intent to cause death/harm/economic loss typically in pursuit of political ends.

  5. Of all the STUPID, INSANE things the Left has come up with, this really tops it all.

I don’t comment much on gun threads because I am not a gun owner, never have been, probably never will be. So I don’t know much about them. But I do listen to all the 2A arguments and I am with you all in spirit in support of it.

My son, a typical 30 year old Millennial, has not always been the most responsible person so far in his young life. (Never been in trouble or anything like that.) But a few years ago, he bought a few guns, joined the NRA, learned all the proper rules, and practiced at a gun range. He is now a responsible gun owner. I think it’s the most grown up thing he’s done so far.

The point is, the NRA exists to teach people like my son to use guns responsibly. If they didn’t, who would? And if you say, well another could do the job of education, wouldn’t that organization also advocate for the 2nd Amendment?

    1. In that respect, the NRA is quite good. The Eddie Eagle program for kids is a great example. However, they are embroiled in scandal at the upper levels and have compromised on second amendment rights.

  6. If it comes down to plastic straws and hamburgers or a sharpie on Alabama – I’ll take the sharpie. To use an old tired and worn out cliche – get a life people

  7. Just as I said, Alabama was originally projected to be hit. The Fake News denies it!

This is a new low in this administration.

      1. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor, Bob.

But Donald can’t resist it. His thin skin and tiny hands demands that every slight or disagreement, however irrelevant, be the focus of national attention.

        1. Oh yeah, a tweet is turned into a massive “thing” by anti-Trumpers, but it’s his fault.

          Sure, let’s pretend.

  8. Red Nation Rising
45% of U.S. citizens do not pay federal taxes, but get refund checks while the rest of us carry the burdens of our country. If you’re part of the 45% yelling “no wall” you should probably shut up until you have skin in the game.

  9. #SharpieGate If anything, Trump will help boost Sharpie sales. The cat reminds me of our Pekingese Maltese at home here. She is a 14 lb. garbage disposal when it comes to food.

  10. What in the world..

Of all the things to be focused on.. For example, the horror and absolute destruction this hurricane caused in the Bahamas, the flooding it is causing in the US, the economy, etc..

He is still arguing about Alabama and that ridiculous sharpie drawing as proof?

At this rate, Trump is fulfilling every meme about winning at the internet, with this Alabama thing.

    1. He talked a lot about the Bahamas. He directed aid to them. He had his people address it directly in front of the media.

Did you pay any attention to it?

    2. I wouldn’t call a couple tweets focusing on it. People do know how to do more than one five minute task in a full day.

  11. Ok…now he should let it go. This is definitive proof that they can’t claim he’s lying about or making up.

    1. It’s kind of like the racism thing at this point. Racism would end in Western nations the minute all supposed victims stopped giving it any credence, and began focusing on living like free men.

Trump responds to the media onslaught (all over a stupid timeframe about a possibility), and then every Trump critic can’t shut up about it. But somehow only Trump is supposed to stop.

The hilarious part is that the critics think they are getting somewhere with this.

      1. I’ve characterized the Trompscolds as terriers who have a rat in their teeth and keep shaking it, long after it was deceased. See: Beating a dead horse.

      2. They’re badgering him and poking him then complaining because he won’t act like Bush and move on. They want him to accept them throwing verbal concrete shakes at him without responding. He’s just defending himself so I don’t think it will hurt him either.

  12. From The Washington Post:

It was Trump who used a black Sharpie to mark up an official National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration map, which he displayed during an Oval Office briefing on Wednesday, according to a White House official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.

“No one else writes like that on a map with a black Sharpie,” the official said of the map, which added Alabama into the hurricane’s potential pathway inside the loop of the marker.

“Pathetic” doesn’t even begin to describe this sorry state of affairs where the President can’t even summon the minimal courage needed to admit he misspoke and then move on.

    1. However, pathetic perfectly describes those who are obsessed with this. Try a 12 step group, Don.

Step 1 Admitted that we were powerless over TDS, and admitted that our lives had become unmanageable.

    2. What a sorry state of affairs that you act like this is the gravest act in history. People are complaining that Trump won’t let it go but he won’t because YOU (Trump haters) won’t let it go.

        1. Hopefully Trump just ignores them now. He has proven his point that Alabama was on the original predicted path and his only mistake was not realizing it had changed. Big whoop. Trump is Trump though and he’s always compelled to defend himself.

Yeah, Don won’t let up until there’s no blood left.

    3. You know Trump can’t let anything go. He’ll focus on something stupid like this rather than actual important things.

      1. Is he the only one focusing on “something stupid like this”? That isn’t hardly true because his haters are more focused on it than him.

  13. CNN reported:

He falsely claimed that Hurricane Dorian was likely to hit Alabama.

Then he repeated the claim after the National Weather Service debunked it.

Then he insisted that the media, not him, was in the wrong.

Then, to try to prove his point, he showed the media an outdated map that had clearly been altered.

Then, trying again, he tweeted out an unaltered map that was too old to prove his point.
Then, trying again again, he tweeted out some more old maps.

Finally, Trump got his homeland security adviser to issue a statement vouching for him.

Over five days, President Donald Trump delivered a barrage of inaccurate and confusing statements about Dorian — aggressively defending his original false claim by being repeatedly dishonest about what it was he had originally said.

  14. this occupied about 5 seconds of Trumps time. 3 days for the MSM.

Mean while, the man has increased my wealth by 50%.

I’d put in on Mount Rushmore

  15. San Francisco logic:

NRA, LAWFUL CITIZENS = Domestic Terror Group
ANTIFA, URGES ANARCHY = Freedom Fighters

    Let that sink in

  16. The NRA consists of, and is funded by, legal responsible gun owners and advocates. Remember the 2nd Amendment.
