Trump is now saying that everything he says right now, with regards to his policy proposals, is just a suggestion because he’s not president yet:

This is Trump covering his tracks.
His proposals are just suggestions right now, but not because he isn’t president yet. It’s because he is thinking in terms of negotiating. He knows he’s going to have to fight with Congress and won’t get exactly what he’s saying right now. That’s why he’s calling them suggestions, to cover himself in the future when he doesn’t build the wall or doesn’t get his Muslim ban, etc.
“It was only a suggestion guys, don’t hate me bro!”
