Trump Approval Dropping in Latest Fox News Poll, Possibly Because of his Tweeting

In a new Fox News poll out this week, President Trump’s overall approval rating is down five points. And it seems like his Twitter habit could be his biggest problem.

Approval of Trump’s overall job performance is down five percentage points. Currently, 43 percent of voters approve, while 51 percent disapprove. In February it was 48-47 percent.

From the Fox synopsis:

The poll also asked about Trump’s tweeting. One-third of Trump voters (35 percent) approve of his tweeting — but just 16 percent of all voters approve. The rest either disapprove (50 percent) or “wish he’d be more careful” with his tweets (32 percent).

By a 51-38 percent margin, more voters than not feel that being a non-politician has hurt rather than helped Trump do his job as president.

The other negative area, though not by much, is that 54 percent don’t approve of the travel ban.

Considering that people think the economy is improving and like the way he is dealing with foreign policy, and approve of how he’s handling terror, it seems like the Twitter problem is bigger than you might expect. Not only is it his most negative category, it’s his public face.. It’s what people talk about the most. It’s what we all consider to be the “real” him. And the “real” him isn’t especially likable.

If he wants success in the economy and the war on terror, arguably the most important polling areas, to translate into job approval, probably shooting off at the Twitter at 4 in the morning every few days isn’t the best strategy. If he really wants to get around the media to get the truth out, I recommend he take his message to the blogs.
