El Presidente Trumpo says he’ll head down to Houston as soon as he can, but doesn’t want to be in the way of rescue operations.
I will be going to Texas as soon as that trip can be made without causing disruption. The focus must be life and safety.

His Homeland Security advisor explained more fully on ABC this morning.

This really shouldn’t be controversial anymore. Presidents have been criticized for not showing up quickly enough, and then criticized for getting in the way. The media really went after Bush for not going to Katrina, when it’s perfectly reasonable to not want to stress the local authorities with your presence and the demand for security when they’re trying to save lives. It really is a difficult decision to figure out when a president’s presence can be an uplift for people’s spirits, and when it’s just going to be a pain in the butt.
But I wouldn’t be surprised if the media tries to make this an issue, just to bash el Trumpo…
