Turns out CNN may have targeted the wrong guy…

It turns out that CNN may have targeted the wrong guy in the Trump wrestling tweet mania scandalgate!

Buzzfeed unpacks this whole thing with screenshots galore, pointing out that HanA**holeSolo’s original gif was actually a different size, crop, and was completely soundless. In fact it was a gif, not the video that Trump tweeted.

Here’s what Buzzfeed concludes in their report:

Someone downloaded the GIF that HanAssholeSolo originally posted to Reddit. Then that person cropped it to better fit a video player like Facebook or YouTube. Then they went through the effort of syncing it back up with audio from the original clip. Then that person put it somewhere where Trump or one of Trump’s people could see it and download it. Then whoever found the video version had to get it to Trump’s phone.

So while the original may have come from HanA**holeSolo, what Trump tweeted likely came from someone else who thought they could take it and make it better.

And then…

Someone else likely sent it to Trump on his iphone, as Buzzfeed points out, considering how near impossible it would be for Trump to download it himself via his iphone:

According to TweetDeck, Trump sent his tweet from an iPhone. Which means that the video made its way into the president’s Twitter account through his phone’s camera roll.

There are only a few ways a video can get into an iPhone’s camera roll.

Basically, someone sent it to the president via a private messaging app like WhatsApp, iMessage, or just simple texting. Or it was emailed to him and he downloaded the video as an attachment.

It would be almost impossible on an iPhone for Trump to have seen the video and downloaded it himself.

Once it was in his camera roll, he uploaded it to Twitter via the camera roll as you would with any other video.

So no matter who created it in the first place or who ended up making the version that Trump used, it’s extremely unlikely that Trump got it directly from either of those user’s posts.

It is possible, however, that he saw it and asked someone to send it to him for him to tweet.

Whichever way it happened, this whole thing has gotten completely out of control.

CNN was dumb for chasing after the creator of a meme and threatening to doxx them in their article.

Trump was dumb for posting the stupid video in the first place.

It’s just a bunch of dumb on top of dumb these days.

The best meme out there, in my opinion, would be for someone to take the motorcycle scene from Dumb and Dumber and put Trump’s face on Lloyd Christmas, who’s driving, and CNN’s face on Harry Dunne in the back seat.
