Undercover journalism catches NPR red-handed

**UPDATE: NPR Responds**

Wow! This is pretty incredible footage from the Daily Caller catching NPR executives airing their disdain for the Tea Party, labeling them not only islamophobic but even xenophobic:

In a new video released Tuesday morning by conservative filmmaker James O’Keefe, Schiller and Betsy Liley, NPR’s director of institutional giving, are seen meeting with two men who, unbeknownst to the NPR executives, are posing as members of a Muslim Brotherhood front group. The men, who identified themselves as Ibrahim Kasaam and Amir Malik from the fictitious Muslim Education Action Center (MEAC) Trust, met with Schiller and Liley at Café Milano, a well-known Georgetown restaurant, and explained their desire to give up to $5 million to NPR because, “the Zionist coverage is quite substantial elsewhere.”

On the tapes, Schiller wastes little time before attacking conservatives. The Republican Party, Schiller says, has been “hijacked by this group.” The man posing as Malik finishes the sentence by adding, “the radical, racist, Islamaphobic, Tea Party people.” Schiller agrees and intensifies the criticism, saying that the Tea Party people aren’t “just Islamaphobic, but really xenophobic, I mean basically they are, they believe in sort of white, middle-America gun-toting. I mean, it’s scary. They’re seriously racist, racist people.”

Schiller goes on to describe liberals as more intelligent and informed than conservatives. “In my personal opinion, liberals today might be more educated, fair and balanced than conservatives,” he said.

Here’s a second video representing the same meeting given to us by the Washington Times. In this video these same executives compare climate change skeptics to birthers and flat earthers, noting the absurdity of these skeptics questioning fact instead of just opinion. They do however say that it’s important to cover both sides from a political perspective, but not to suggest that either could be right. Rather they want to expose the foolishness of the skeptics so that people who vote know what they are voting against.

If NPR execs are this honest when they believe no one is looking, think about what MSNBC execs would be saying in this same meeting.

Note that this all comes a day after the President of NPR challenged the notion that they are biased, suggesting that this bias isn’t a reality at all, but merely perception.

UPDATE: NPR responds:

“The fraudulent organization represented in this video repeatedly pressed us to accept a $5 million check, with no strings attached, which we repeatedly refused to accept. We are appalled by the comments made by Ron Schiller in the video, which are contrary to what NPR stands for. Mr. Schiller announced last week that he is leaving NPR for another job.”

I wouldn’t have expected NPR to respond any different as they rely heavily on contribution. But I do wonder why they didn’t mention Betsy Liley.
