Virginia Dept. of Health going door-to-door to question you about the state of your emergency preparedness

Since when has the government ever needed to go door to door to collect information about their citizens emergency preparedness in order to provide guidelines on what people should stock in their homes for emergencies?

But that’s exactly what the Virginia Dept. of Health is doing and they want you to be honest about the state of your emergency preparedness when they come to your door and ask you about it:

Call me cynical but this seems a bit like a fishing expedition to collect information on citizens. After all, guidelines are pretty clear about what you need to have for emergency preparedness and the Health Dept. should be able to provide those guidelines to people without having to go door to door to find out what each person has. It just seems a bit odd.
