This is how fake news in the media perpetuates itself – remember when the New York Times LIED about the shooter in the Gabby Giffords attack being animated by right-wing politics? They had to walk that back after the outrage, but it stayed in readers’ minds.
And also in the stupid minds of biased “journalists” like this idiot:
This Nat'l Review editorial would have a lot more potency if NR owned up to fact that 2010 right-wing anger/mobs played a role in dehumanizing Congress, helping lead to Giffords shooting in 2011. https://t.co/7Nd37igSEg

Uhhhhh what? Yeah no, your bull$#it tweet would have any potency at all if it wasn’t filled with a complete lie, you @$$.
Loughner had no discernible political affiliation or motive. He was obsessed with "lucid dreaming" and angry at Giffords for refusing to answer this question to his satisfaction at a previous rally: "What is government if words have no meaning?"

Shouldn’t a reporter know this fact, rather than internalizing liberal mythology?
— Guy Benson (@guypbenson) October 12, 2018
Given that the NY Times ran with this same error recently, I'm wondering how many journalists out there still believe this.

Gutowski is always great on this stuff, but he’s much too nice:
What evidence do you have that shooting was politically motivated?
— Stephen Gutowski (@StephenGutowski) October 12, 2018
All the evidence I've seen points to it not being politically motivated and, unless you have evidence to back up this claim, you should really delete and correct this tweet.
— Stephen Gutowski (@StephenGutowski) October 12, 2018
The shooter was a paranoid schizophrenic who had no defining political beliefs outside of conspiracy theories, being against fiat currency and a hatred for George W Bush and Gabby Giffords. But sure it was the Tea Party.
— Patrick Edwards (@pcedwards) October 12, 2018
Yeah this totally sounds like Tea Party radicalization. 🙄 pic.twitter.com/gCJKOobLVu
— Ben Howe (@BenHowe) October 12, 2018
But that’s how these things work. The narrative will continue because they want to believe it.
Of course the jackass didn’t delete it. He just apologized in another tweet.
Sorry. This tweet incorrectly suggested that the tea party was to blame for Giffords shooting. Police never determined a motive for her shooting. https://t.co/rrzwz4Hrp4
— Paul Kane (@pkcapitol) October 12, 2018
The apology has 54 retweets. The original LIE tweet has 200. Guess which one will perpetuate more BS? Hmmmm.
