Joe Biden was on with PBS Newshour where he tried to suggest that Trump’s overall approval rating is not on the rise, but got corrected by the reporter interviewing him:
BIDEN: "The president's numbers with the public have gone up in handling this crisis, but they haven't gone up in terms of his presidency."
*awkward silence*
REPORTER: Actually, his job approval is also up.
BIDEN: "Well, I hope that he's so strong that he's up way above that." pic.twitter.com/VfWksMSpJi

Here’s the full transcript:
BIDEN: I notice that the president’s numbers with the public have gone up in handling this crisis, but they haven’t gone up in terms of his presidency.
REPORTER: Um… Gallup did show he is now at 49% job approval, which is a reversal from a few weeks ago. So it’s just an interesting development. It does suggest the American people see him as a stronger leader than you’ve been characterizing him.
BIDEN: Well, I hope that he’s so strong that he’s up way above that because we need the help now. We need help now.
That was amazing. Either Biden is really not on his game or he lied expecting the reporter to just let it slide. Given the fact that he knew that Trump’s public numbers are up on his response to the coronavirus, I’m going with the latter.
Also, if reporters actually corrected politicians like this when they lie about facts, the media would be not so bad.
