Trump’s Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats is suddenly trending today – that’s because, at least in part, because of this moment when he has to hear from the news that Trump wants to meet with Putin at the White House.
Yeah:
Helluva moment at #AspenSecurity when @mitchellreports breaks to DNI Dan Coats that Putin is coming to the WH in the fall.
Coats: "Say that again? Ok, that's going to be special." pic.twitter.com/wzPTXXHZ4p

YIKES.
That is not good.
To make it even worse, he admits that he didn’t know Trump was going to let in Russian ambassador Kislyak and his buddy Lavrov into the White House on their last trip either.
DNI Dan Coats did not know that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Ambassador Sergey Kislyak would visit the Oval Office. #AspenSecurity pic.twitter.com/rWZWXlDVIA

Oh yeah, that sounds totally secure!!

.@mitchellreports asks DNI Dan Coats about Trump's statement about how the interference "could be other people."

Coats: "Well, 'could' is not a definitive statement."
DNI head Dan Coats, after learning on stage at Aspen that Trump had invited Putin to Washington, gave a bit of a warning. "If I were asked that question, I would look for a different way of doing it," he said, when asked if he thought another one-on-one meeting was a good idea.
