By The Right Scoop

This is a great question from ABC’s Jonathan Karl that needs to be asked over and over and over:

Simply put, Obama can’t take a non-negotiable stance on the debt ceiling and claim he isn’t threatening default. If he wasn’t threatening default, he’d compromise…and the Republicans need to run with this one all the way, especially with the media pointing it out.

UPDATE: Corrected the language. Had government shutdown in my head when I wrote this earlier.

I agree RS that the Repubs need to run with this, but as long as Boehner is speaker it will never happen

    • warpmine

Right you are. Boehner would fold holding a royal flush.

    • SineWaveII

You mean the squeaker of the house?

  • stage9

“First of all, stop using big words Johnathan…second of all, I’m Jay Carney, now shut up and get out! No more questions for you!”

  • Rshill7

Invertebrates can’t run with anything. They’re invertebrates! Ever seen a jellyfish run? Neither have I. Maybe after they all get signed up with Obamacare with the help of poor folk subsidies, they can have some spines surgically implanted. Some of them might like to have sex change operations too, right Graham?

    “Right Rs.”

“Thanks Graham, now git! McCain’s lap is empty.”

    • 57thunderbird

They don’t have to sign on to 0care.That is for the serfs!

      • Rshill7

Are you sure? Why have they been granted subsidies for it?

“WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Congress has won some partial relief for lawmakers and their staffs from the “Obamacare” health reforms that it passed and subjected itself to three years ago.

In a ruling issued on Wednesday, U.S. lawmakers and their staffs will continue to receive a federal contribution toward the health insurance that they must purchase through soon-to-open exchanges created by President Barack Obama’s signature healthcare law.”

    • NYGino

Having no spine is a pre-existing condition. They will be covered until the money runs out, somewhere around January, 2013 or so.

  • Sentinel

Miraculous that it’s not FNC who is calling this lying blowhole out. Obama, the boy king, has said so many stupid things lately (now that there’s no election to worry about) – red lines, I’ll attack/no I won’t/yes I will, I won’t negotiate, let’s send weapons to Al Queda – that even the brown-nosed MSM has to call B.S. eventually… maybe they’re upset that they didn’t get an Obamacare waiver?
Notice something funny? Biden has been sent to the dog house and chained up and muzzled (I’d say neutered but Moochelle holds the snippers in her purse). We haven’t heard from him in almost a year now. And Obama has replaced him as ‘Slappy-the-Clown’ and is saying the dumbest things. Please, somebody smack him in the face with a cream pie please. With that moniker, is it any wonder that Carney (Carnival) is putting on a freak show?

    • NYGino

      Too funny…Too true.

    • Conservative_Hippie

Yeah, where the heck is Joltin Joe?

      • clevonlittle

        Danville North Carolina………………..

    “How is that tenable”

It’s tenable because everyone else in that room will make it tenable. It’s tenable because you media wags have been Obama’s suppositories for 5 years running. You have been shoe-wearing preparation H since you first heard his name, saw his skin color, and felt his libbiness. It’s tenable because journalism has been reduced to one-sided propaganda.

There, hope that helps. Enjoy your demotion Mr. Think-Outside-The-Iron-Curtain :-/

      Tell it, brother!

OOPA!!! Take that you “buy the ink by the barrel” scum.

read yesterday at CNS, that an unnamed CIA employee was fired for not signing a nondisclosure statement on Benghazi

          • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanDuckie

I haven’t had a chance to read that yet, but I saw the headline too. >:( There’s going to be another hearing tomorrow. I hope Scoop posts it. I don’t know what time it’s at, but I hope this will be addressed as well. We’ve got to protect the whistle blowers and those in the CIA who won’t sign.
            Thanks Cousin!

    • Troubles76

Well said – there will repercussions as a result of losing the 5th estate (beyond this rotten administration)… I wonder daily what that will be. It cannot go on like this.

  • CalCoolidge

Hitler didn’t negotiate. Why should Obama?

  • Watchman74

If only he was this tough with Putin.

    • http://boogieforward.us/ K-Bob

Well, sometimes “not negotiating” is the same thing as “total capitulation.”

    • stage9

Obama is all gums, no bite.

      • tinlizzieowner

As my wife, the daughter of a cattle rancher, would say,

“He’s all hat and no cattle”. ;-) ;-)

        • badbadlibs

I’d say he’s what comes out of the rear end of those cattle…but, that’s just me. ;-)

          • tinlizzieowner

Cow manure actually has a purpose. ;-)
You do know that Obamacare won’t cover Aspirin, right?
Why? Because it’s white and it works.

  • Conservative_Hippie

It’s all in how you phrase the question and Hammers hammered it….er…um..nailed it…er…um…I give up.

  • Steve Angell

With Boehner the surrender monkey it is tenable.

  • NanNJ

Hello!!! If we are still pumping money, the economy is still in the tank. How the H E LL did this loser get re- elected. I”ll tell you—the nation is full of nit wits.

    • deinsi56

You don’t suppose that perhaps the IRS targeting conservative groups in the lead up to the election had anything to do with it? Talk about vote suppression.

      • NanNJ

oh yea, I commented on another blog, IRS scandle, biggest scandal of all…He stole the election.

  • http://black-avenger-1.livejournal.com/profile VirusX

That’s funny, coming from a president that says he doesn’t care about what Congress says, obeys laws when he feels like it (based on if he likes the law), publicly brags about how he bypasses Congress and will continue to do so, and believes that his word is actually lost in this country. Pardon me if I’m wrong, but isn’t this the same Imperial president that decided to exempt people from the law (Obamacare) buy his own non-existent authority, then, by that same source, exempted himself from federal restrictions on aiding and abetting terrorists?

    • kong1967

When Obama refuses to work with Republicans and says “his way or the highway”, if the Republicans say “no” then they are called obstructionists and a “do nothing Congress”. When he says jump you should say “how high?”, otherwise you’re refusing to work with him.

The last thing you mentioned about lifting the restrictions from aiding and abetting terrorists is a disgrace. If he’s not committing treason I don’t know what else you call it.

  • Swamp Fox

The problem is that the Republicans that “need to run with this” are all about as useless as a screen door on a submarine.

    • StandProudNow

As useful as an ashtray on a motorcycle…

      • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanDuckie

or an ejection seat in a helicopter

    • PicklePlants

      Not all

    • kong1967

The screen door would at least keep the sailors from falling out of the submarine. Republicans are less useful than that.

Actually I’m just trying to be funny. I also get angry at the Republicans, but just think where we would be if Democrats still had a super majority. Gives me the chills.

      • PapaLouie

If Democrats still had a super majority we would have higher taxes and a higher debt ceiling. Oh wait, Boehner agreed to higher taxes last year, and he has agreed to a higher debt ceiling every time Obama wanted one. Perhaps, with a super majority, Obama may have gotten all his radical friends appointed and approved by the Senate. Oh, that’s right, McCain helped usher all of them through unscathed. Well, at least we wouldn’t have had the Sequester. But then that will be going away soon anyway. Boehner is showing his cards again by telling the world that he will not allow a government shutdown. So he will again be caving to Obama’s demands without even an attempt to bluff.

It seems that had Democrats retained a super majority, very little would be different except that the blame would be all on them. As it is, Democrats and their media cheerleaders have already begun blaming the economy and every other problem on a do-nothing Republican Congress. Our only hope is that people can see through it this time without any help from the media. That’s a tall order.

        • kong1967

You’re seeing only what Republicans have caved in on and not what Obama didn’t get. What Obama has gotten is bad enough, but if they had a super majority he would have gotten a lot more. Would you be willing to roll the dice and let the Democrats have full control again because….after all…Republicans are exactly the same?

          • clevonlittle

lookout……..you made too much sense . What manner of gun control would be imposed ? Where would tax rates be ? How much backdoor Sharia would be in place ? Would the USMC be in dress pink ? It would be much worse……..2010 Tea Partiers slowed the Obamatrain down . Boehner needs to grow a set , if not the next Congress needs a new Speaker .

            • kong1967

I didn’t understand why they voted him to be Speaker again in the first place. Yes, Boehner is too weak, but he is nowhere near the communist Obama and the Democrat party are. He makes stupid deals, but I don’t think that’s where he stands. It’s in the name of compromise, but he needs to learn how to quit giving Obama money in return for promises. Promises we all know are no good right after the vote and Obama got a lot of what he wanted on the spot.

    • Robalou01

Apparently we can’t count on a single democrat to have the guts to do what’s right and defund Odumbocare…what a worthless scumbag party

    • riccieverett

      now that is funny.

  • PapaLouie

Obama gave a speech a few days ago condemning Republicans for not being willing to compromise. Now he’s admitting that he is the one who is unwilling to compromise. He is threatening to shut down government unless he gets 100% of his demands. Conservatives have suggested a compromise where they will agree to fund his over-bloated government in exchange for defunding (or at least postponing) Obamacare. So who is it that is being obstinate and unwilling to compromise here?

  • poorhardworker

Glad Jay is chuckling…I’m ROTFLMAO!!!!!! They CANNOT defend their position they ARE OBSTRUCTIONIST!!!

  • disqus_XeFVQf2YXo

Sorry Karl, Corny Carney doesn’t know what tenable means… He’s just parroting the fraud in the White House… Actually the fraud doesn’t know what Tenable means either…

  • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanDuckie

I love to see the little weasel squirm!
Now for my point of the story… dear leader is not willing to negotiate with congress on the debt ceiling which has already blown through the freaking stratosphere, but he’s perfectly willing to negotiate with terrorist groups including Al Qaida when arming them during a time our boys are at war with them,
and he’s willing to negotiate letting prisoners go from gitmo and send them back to the Taliban who didn’t keep up their end of the deal (like anyone with a half brain knew they wouldn’t) and didn’t release Bowe Bergdahl yet, who by the way as of today has been our only POW from Afghanistan war for 1,542 days.

I wonder if crap weasel junior would care to answer that one?

    • Swamp Fox

BAM! BAM! and freakin’ BAM! You nailed it! ^5

Looks up at the ball cap wearing duck and says, “Mr. Levin… is that you in disguise?”

      • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanDuckie

Aw now quit it! lol. Thank you! You hang around us long enough, you’ll see that for every 20 or so comments I make, I come out with a decent one. :) Thanks Swamp Fox

    • sDee

Ah my fine feathered friend, the answer as you well know is that all of the above undermine, weaken and attack the strength and sovereignty of America.

What seems contrary, is consistent – for a post American president.

      • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanDuckie

sigh… yeah, but it always feels good to remind the p’os of these things.

  • tinlizzieowner

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America ‘s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, “the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”
    ~ Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006

‘The buck stops where’ Barry? ‘Leadership failure’ Barry?
Will the real Barack Obama (if there is one), please stand up. ;-) ;-)

    • badbadlibs

Too bad o bama doesn’t have to eat his words, one syllable at a time. IF the media would treat him like the treasonous lawbreaker he is, he’d be eating from now until doomsday.

      • tinlizzieowner

If Obama had to eat all his lies, his pal Michael Moore would look like a fashion model. ;-) ;-)

:D Call ‘em like I see ‘em. :D You’re welcome!!

    • kimber1911

      Awesome points.. Well Done.

    • Pancake3

The real Barack Obama is the father, and he’s long dead. Why would this man who calls himself Obama even use the name of a man to whom his mother was never married?

      • tinlizzieowner

To cover the antics of his real father Frank Marshall Davis, while he was taking nude pictures of his teen age mother, that’s why.

  • Robalou01

And now the thoroughly petulant and emotionally stunted Barry is threatening to shut down the whole government and punish everybody if his precious Obamacare is defunded. Message to Barry: America doesn’t like you and Obamacare and is sick of your bullying ! And don’t try to pin a government shutdown on the Republicans you fraud.

  • Stephen Hopkins

Show some guts congress and shut it down. Obamacare is crushing this economy. No employer wants to deal with the fines, thus they are not hiring and at the same time, reducing full time employees to part time. If there was any media left in this country then the truth about what this law is doing would outrage every American.

John Galt Take Me With You .com

  • Charm4sure

Amazing the lame stream media is finally reporting some truth. i am so tired of hearing conservatives say the gop willbe rsponsible for shutting down the govt over Obamacare. Conservative commentators have been unwilling to hold Obama responsible on this. It like some blind spot or disease.

  • jmulcahy

So, is that a red line that Obama is drawing over the debt ceiling? Bwahahahaha! Or as he once said, “Don’t call my bluff.”

  • ryanomaniac

Would’ve liked to see Carney’s response. Why was clip cut short? Carney is a straight up idiot.

    • wdobni

Carney was snickering at the questioner

  • http://teapartyreaganconservative.blogspot.com/ TeaPartyReaganConservative

The Carney-val: How dare you (supposed liberal anti-American MSMedia Pravda Puppets) ask the right question, tell the Truth, and embarrass me and Obama by publically forcing me respond to the Truth of Obama- of his political leftist hardline democratic imperial, tyrannical, and despotic political tactic, which btw, exposes the blatant hypocrisy of Democrats / Obama.

  • SPELL9

YES we Can Shut it Down!!

  • A Datum

Honestly, the best thing this government can do for the American people right now is to close its doors…

  • USMC 64-68

America has two choices – shut the gov’t down, or continue the course to economic ruin under the party that has the agenda to ruin the country in order to establish a socialistic state.

If the republicans won’t stand and honor their oath to protect the constitution and our rights, the the country will be lost – so what’s to lose? Stand against the marxist evil!

  • charliewalksonwater

Really, the best answer is to shut down the government, replace the politicians with PATRIOTS, and re-open under new management.

  • Kimberly Petrich

Hey, J Karl, five years late and a couple of trillion dollars short, but thanks anyway.
