Alabama 7-day hostage standoff over, 5-yr-old safely rescued from bunker

This is just fantastic news. The little 5-year-old boy that was taken hostage in Alabama 7 days ago from a school bus where the bus driver was killed is now safe, free, and with his parents. There aren’t many details yet as to what exactly happened but law enforcement just held a press conference to confirm that Jim Dykes, the kidnapper, is dead.

According to the press conference, after negotiations had deteriorated Dykes was seen with a gun and the FBI agents felt the child, known only as Ethan, was in imminent danger. They apparently stormed the bunker and rescued the child. Reports of a loud explosion have been heard but no detail has been given as to how Dykes was killed or what transpired in the bunker.

I’ll update this thread with more detail once I find out exactly what happened. But here again, after 7 days, the good men and women of law enforcement have rescued this 5-year-old alive and killed a very bad dude – and they deserve our gratitude.
