Fox News just released a poll that Trump is probably going to love. It shows that the American people sides with Trump over the media by a small margin.
By a pretty large margin, registered voters say the media has been tougher on Trump than on Obama, from 68% to 18%:
This is pretty shocking since his approval rating is far lower than that, so even people who don’t approve of him believe the media is tougher on him, and that includes a LOT of Hillary voters.
This is more in line with the election results, but shows how little faith people have in the media:
Now, compare this with the more generic label “government officials” which was asked in 2006:
The Fox poll last asked a similar question in June 2006. At that time, “news reporters” were more trusted than “government officials” by a 40-25 percent margin, with 26 percent saying neither.
Wow. Does that show how little Americans trust politicians, or how much more they trust Trump? It could also be the “honeymoon period” where Americans give him the benefit of the doubt.
In fact, this next indicator seems to say just that:
People want tough press coverage. A majority, 55 percent, thinks it’s better for the country if the news media “cover the president aggressively.” Thirty-eight percent feel it would be better if reporters gave the president the “benefit of the doubt.”
But… way more people think he’s too careless with his words:
If past is prologue, Trump will cherry pick what he likes and ignore what he doesn’t from this poll.
Remember, everything is rigged:
