Back in September Obama was really reaching when he tried to reassure the American public about hos competent he is in battling the terrorist threat of ISIS in Iraq. Specifically, he cited the country of Yemen as a success in counter-terrorism, and a model for Syria and Iraq. Four months later, Americans are evacuating from that same country under terrorist threat.
Watch below:
What’s even more galling is that people knew even back then that Yemen was no success in counter-terrorism:
Obama cites Yemen and Somalia as examples of when we have supported local fighters on the ground and succeeded. #ISIS #Maddow

"It will take time to eradicate a cancer like ISIL…" Yep. As examples Obama cites Yemen / Somalia, where threat managed, not eradicated

Wow! If Obama cites Yemen and Somalia as the pattern for war on ISIS, god help Iraq and Syria and all of us…

Obama cites the success of partner strategy in Yemen and Somalia, but central governments not fully in control of either country.

There are signs now that the Yemeni government might fall to extremist elements, ISIS has captured more territory in Syria despite our airstrikes, and there have been attacks encouraged by Al Qaeda and ISIS in Western Countries.
But will any “journalist” challenge Obama’s incompetence in foreign policy at all? All signs point to NO.
