Former Bush Administration Press Secretary Ari Fleischer nailed it on exactly why Trump should stop using Twitter so much:

According to Fleischer, Trump’s bad tweets are what he’s becoming known for and not the good things he’s done as far as the economy or policy.
I couldn’t agree more.
Trump has good things happening and he certainly wants people to notice. Yet his almost obsessive and sometimes reckless use of Twitter is a YUGE distraction from his administration’s accomplishments.
Fleischer’s analogy is great (especially this time of year). Trump has made some good plays to get down the field, but he keeps getting flagged for self-inflicted fouls, which keeps him losing yardage as far as the American people are concerned.
If Trump wants to score with the American people, he needs to stop uttering every thought in his head on Twitter.
