AWESOME: Israel bombs the crap out of a chemical weapons plant in Syria…

Haaretz is reporting that Israel bombed the crap out of an chemical weapons plant last night in Syria, killing at least two people:

The Israeli military struck Thursday a chemical arms plant in in Syria, foreign media reports claimed. The Syrian army general command confirmed in a statement the attack on what they called a military facility, and said that two people were killed and extensive damage was caused. Israel refused to comment on the reports.

Syria, of course, was not happy at all with the airstrike:

The Syrian army responded this morning in an official statement to the air strike last night on a Syrian military site near the city of Masyaf in the Hamat district in western Syria.

In a statement carried by the Syrian Arab News Agency, the Syrian army claimed that “Israeli warplanes fired several rockets from the Lebanese airspace at 02:42 am on Thursday targeting one of the Syrian military posts near Masyaf, killing two army personnel and causing material damage to the site.”

“This belligerence is a brazen attempt to raise the morale of the terror organization ISIS, which finds itself in a state of collapse after crushing victories by the Syrian army against the terror on more than one front.”

“The attack proves Israel’s direct support for ISIS and additional terror organizations,” the army claimed.

In addition, it threatened that “The aggressive Israeli attack could have dangerous consequences on stability and security in the region.”

Israel supports ISIS? Hahaha what poppycock!

In fact, as the Jerusalem Post points out, Hezbollah was about to take over that chemical weapons plant:

There’s a strong probability that the Syrian military research center allegedly struck by Israeli warplanes on Thursday morning was targeted because of concerns that Hezbollah’s leader Hassan Nassrallah had asked Damascus to hand over the facility to the Lebanon-based Shi’ite terror group.

This assessment comes from the former national security adviser, Maj.-Gen (ret.) Yaakov Amidror, who now serves as an analyst at Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies. According to him, the strike on the al-Talai Scientific Studies and Research Center may have been a consequence of Nasrallah’s visit to Damascus last week.

Nasrallah boasted of his visit to the Syrian capital in a live speech, but according Amidror, who was speaking on a conference call organized by The Israel Project, the facility may not only have been producing weapon systems for Hezbollah but was actually going to be taken over by the group as per Nassrallah’s demand.

The facility has been known for many years as a center for research and development for weapons systems, including chemical weapons.

Noting that the strike came almost 10 years to the day of the Israeli strike on the Syrian nuclear reactor in Deir Ezzor, Amidror stated that it should be clear for Syria that Israel will not allow Iran or Hezbollah to build their capabilities because of the “chaotic mess in Syria.”

“Just imagine if such a regime had nuclear capabilities,” he said.

Here’s more photos of the attack if you want to see them:
