AZ Pima County Sheriff blames political rhetoric for shooting

What’s so bad about this is that he admits they don’t have a motive, yet still he pontificates about political rhetoric because he says the shooter is an ‘unbalanced’ person. And, of course, according to the brilliant Sheriff, because he’s ‘unbalanced’, he especially susceptible to vitriol.

Yet they don’t know the motive and it’s being widely reported that the shooter is not talking.

I watched that press conference live and Sheriff Dupnik obviously had no clue what was going on with this investigation. He did not know the name of the FBI representative who was there to speak after him. He did not know that 5 people had been killed. He said 5 people were killed and someone off the stage had to correct him because there were 6 dead. And no, it was not a recent death because we knew about the 9 year old girl who died at the hospital hours before that. He later said that 5 died at the scene and 1 died at the hospital. Dupnik was obviously out of the loop on a major detail like that.

I’ve been watching TV since about 1PM Eastern time and I’ve been flipping between FNC, CNN, and MSNBC and I have to say that what passes for TV journalism is absolutely pathetic. Shepard Smith has got to be one of the most unprofessional excuses for a journalist there is. It’s been painful to watch him he’s so bad.

Spot on Jaynie59. He had no flippin clue what the facts were. Just wanted attention because he has opportunity. He’s pathetic for us in Pima County as a Sheriff.

So political rhetoric is the problem and the solution is more political rhetoric. Perfect!

Unless these people have definitive proof they should resign for inciting
    violence in using hate speech.

So the sheriff figured out what everyone else was able to figure out using the Internet? Good grief, what a sad joke.

    It’s Americas fault!
    It’s the politicians fault!
It’s the blame game and it’s always the same.

Who pulled the trigger it’s their fault! Why is this such a difficult concept to understand.

If you don’t know just say so, “we don’t know why he went on a shooting spree other than he was mentally disturbed, we’re still investigating.” Oh wait no I’ll blame America instead. Talk about needing to grow up.

I saw him talking earlier, he went out of his way to bring up talk radio and tv hosts and almost treated the actual shooter as some victim of Glenn Beck’s mind control or something. I was amazed he’d do that at that time, when people just wanted to hear facts about the case. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone so unprofessional at such a serious time. He had absolutely no facts to back up what he was saying.

This was all about a platform for him and his views. What a disgrace for his county.

Right on m_quick !! Does anyone remember the DC sniper case and Montgomery County, MD Sheriff ? This moron used his official, elevated, newfound media darling status to CHALLENGE these two sniper sicko’s, on air. The result: the two psycho’s ( one was a radical black Islamic militant; the other an impressionable young black protege) shot a young boy in front of his school days later. Until ALL the evidence on the Tucson psychopath are collected, this clown sheriff should shut his piehole. The Rule of Law, a bedrock principle of our Constitutional Republic, can not be highjacked by partisan political hack sheriff’s looking for their 15 minutes of fame….

No one has said whether FL was after the judge or the rep! Has anyone asked him?

    • Anonymous

That’s a great question, the Sheriff is acting like the gunman was killed and they can only speculate.

What’s scary is that the Sheriff has his own narrative that he’ll be implanting into this crazy kids head. The kid wasn’t motivated by Palin or Beck but you know he’s considering it now.

Although I did hear that the Judge just happened to show up at the time. He wasn’t specifically part of the town hall meeting but I guess it’s still possible.

I saw this. What an idiot!!!

  • “You have no idea, in my bones, in my very soul! In my heart! I want to kick Fox’s a**! I want to drive them into the ground! I want to spike the ball! I want to kick ‘em in the teeth on the way back to the huddle! And then I want to turn around and lift my leg on ‘em! Because that’s all they’re worth!”

    -Ed Schultz

“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun! Because from what I understand, folks in Philly like a good brawl!”

    -Barack Obama

“You animals are gonna get it, you really are. Here are these late middle-aged cretins cutting their own throats because there’s a black man in the White House”

“Glenn Beck is trying to get people to assassinate the president of the United States and his family. Beck is trying to have this occur. And he’s getting close to it. Eventually all this is going to happen. And a prosecutor someplace is going to get an indictment against Glenn Beck for co-conspiring to commit murder. That’s going to happen. Take it to the bank.”

    -Mike Malloy

This is what the left is saying. I have yet to hear this from the right

And to think these people are the so-called “Good Guys”, who want nothing more than liberal (free) love and tolerance for ALL in America.

      Boy are we in trouble.
(That one’s for you Chris Matthews)

  • Now we have law enforcement blaming some of us for the acts of an individual. This is completely incredible and outrageous.
How is Arizona the bigotry capital…because they are trying to enforce federal illegal immigration laws within their state, because our Federal Government has been derelict in enforcing the same laws on a national level. I daresay that is the biggest bunch of baloney.
This Congresswoman and the others that were shot, were shot by a mentally unstable individual, and none of us are responsible for his actions whatsoever. If you want to blame something for this act besides the person who did it, you can blame the fact that our nation is so far adrift of our Constitutional mores, freedom requires personal responsibility, without such, there can be no freedom. Our government has been drifting further and further from personal responsibility by controlling more and more of lives, which is not their Constitutional place.

The sheriff is an absolute hero for his remarks and his policies. Bravo sheriff! Keep up the your great work on behalf of a civilized society.

  • Rshill7

The old dude is a poster at Huffington Post for crying out loud. He is a hard-left sycophant. This is his day in the sun to display his vitriol for an even large audience.

  • Marie

Well of course the shooter is an “unbalanced person”!!!

The argument for censorship begins, or simply will soon be implimented for reasons of National security.

(Gee. What a surprise. Oh well Brown44, if you read this, I figure I might as well start with the big guys)

Except that I propose to fight it with every truth that I can find for as long as I can – and in a NON-violent fashion (FOR THE RECORD)
Think I’ll start with Arizona’s former Governor Janet Napolitano’s interview with Greta Van Stern.

Greta mentions the Az. Boycott instituted by Raul Grijalva and asks if (now DHS Janet Napolitano) thinks the SB1070 Law is discriminatory.
Check out her response and see what you think

  • Pima County Sheriff Clarence “Nogoodnik” Dupnik is the lowest of the bottom feeders. Taking advantage of a mass murder and assassination attempt for the sake of political bomb-throwing and scoring points for his masters in Washington is absolutely deplorable and despicable. He should be removed from office for his despicable statement and unprofessional, unethical abnormal behavior. If he was in the Army, he’d be on a bus right now, taking his dishonorably discharged ass back to the civilian world. Nogoodnik is no better than MC “F*ck the Police They Acted Stupidly Barry-O(bama). (Don’t believe Obama can sing?:

I’ll bet he’d be great friends with Kwame Kilpatrick.

And here I thought a complete nut job bought a gun and took aim at the first high-profile political target he could get close to. I wasn’t aware that Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck were responsible. Nor was I aware that my affiliation with the Tea Party was an incitement to kill innocent people. How clueless I was. What would we do without the intelligent and level-headed media and public officials like this Sheriff, who surely know much more than the rest of us.

  • Please support My new Blog called Freedom Apparatus. I am a Journalism and Mass Communication Major and a Political Science and Government minor, and I also believe that we do not have enough Fiscal Conservastive Journalism in the press (believe me, it is true) and I think we need more. I am still in my first year, but figured that I should get a start now. Thank you, and God Bless you all.
