Boehner: This isn’t some damn game!

OK I really like the passion Boehner shows in this clip. Need much more of this:

There’s an article at WSJ that Drudge is headlining that says top Republicans are frustrated at the inability to make a deal with Democrats:

Senior Republicans in Congress, frustrated over their inability to strike a deal to reopen the government, began shifting from their drive to undercut the 2010 health-care law, which has been the central element of the dispute, toward a broader budget deal.

Look, here’s the bottom line. How did we get to this government shutdown in the first place? Ted Cruz took his defund Obamacare message to the American people and that’s what persuaded Republicans to go down this road.

Speaker Boehner and Republicans needs to do the same.

If Democrats won’t sit down with at the table and negotiate, then screw them. Go to the American people with the message that the they deserve a waiver from Obamacare just like business and unions are getting. It’s only fair and it’s a winning message. Create a website. Tell the people to sign up and to call their representatives and demand fairness on Obamacare. And then sit back and let the American people do their magic.

That’s how you win. Ted Cruz has already demonstrated that.

Not sure what Johnny’s middle name is, but wonder if it could be Walker 🙂

Jeff Sessions just finished berating Senate and House democrats for their denigrating comments about the Tea Party.

        Salute to Jeff!

  • c4pfan

Scoop, the problem is that Boehner is/was planning to cave all along. Remember, the e-mails?

    • Laurel

At least on subsidies and exemptions on Congress, their staff, in regards to health care.

      • OneThinDime

If you listen to Boehner again he is talking about “fairness” for the American people under ObamaCare not it’s elimination. That’s why he has been funding its implementation for years, the Repubs want the people control as well.

        • Laurel

Oh I agree. It’s typical isn’t it?! Republicans want to control people too!!!

I would like to ban the word ‘fairness’ for all time.

  • clockwindingdown

Can’t help but think what is the left doing to us out of sight while we are distracted with this so called shut down? In other words the left is using this a cover to keep prying eye’s off other activities, stay alert!!!

    • OneThinDime

The left is scheming with the right on amnesty. Bills are due to be introduced and off to committee by month end.

      • J. miner

also Obama is out organizing like he does to unilaterally wipe out the debt ceiling. Circumvent congress. you know, plan B

    • Conservative_Hippie

hmmmm, I don’t know. I know ALL the coverups (Benghazi, Fast and Furious, IRS debacle, etc.) are becoming yesterday’s news sadly.

      • Galatiansch2vs20

Should keep tieing in the IRS KGB like tactics into is this who you want in charge of enforcing a healthcare law?

        • Conservative_Hippie

  • Dan painter

This government shut down will define the Republican party for the next 20 years.

    • Galatiansch2vs20

If the Democrats keep on being the party of no and keeping the goverment shut down going and conservatives keep standing for the American people when it comes to an unpopular bill which the majority don’t want at the moment, the Unaffordable Care Act, just maybe it will.

      • Dan painter

Either way it will set the tone for the governing behavior of the republican party. If they fold they will expose their throats for the kill. If they fight for a balanced compromise and win they will have restored their flagging image among their base .

        • Galatiansch2vs20

They’ve already come up with a number of compromises- the last one was too much compromise. They should pick the defund Obamacare or at least delay long enough to try to get a conservative majority so they can repeal compromise if they’re going to choose a compromise.

        • Galatiansch2vs20

The compromise they offered first- defund Obamacare and fund the rest of government is the one I like best, but delaying it ( I would hope it would then get repealed) would be second best and it looked like delay has more favor in polling.

  • garyinaz66

Even when it comes to something as basic, and apparently as simple and straightforward, as the question of who shut down the federal government, there are diametrically opposite answers, depending on whether you talk to Democrats or to Republicans.
There is really nothing complicated about the facts. The Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted all the money required to keep all government activities going — .
This is not a matter of opinion. You can check the Congressional Record.
As for the House of Representatives’ right to grant or withhold money, that is not a matter of opinion either. You can check the Constitution of the United States. All spending bills must originate in the House of Representatives, which means that Congressmen there have a right to decide whether or not they want to spend money on a particular government activity.

Whether ObamaCare is good, bad or indifferent is a matter of opinion. But it is a matter of fact that members of the House of Representatives have a right to make spending decisions based on their opinion.
ObamaCare is indeed “the law of the land,” as its supporters keep saying, and the Supreme Court has upheld its Constitutionality.
But the whole point of having a division of powers within the federal government is that each branch can decide independently what it wants to do or not do, regardless of what the other branches do, when exercising the powers specifically granted to that branch by the Constitution.
The hundreds of thousands of government workers who have been laid off are not idle because the House of Representatives did not vote enough money to pay their salaries or the other expenses of their agencies
Since we cannot read minds, we cannot say who — if anybody — “wants to shut down the government.” But we do know who had the option to keep the government running and chose not to. The money voted by the House of Representatives covered everything that the government does.
You cannot blame other people for not giving you everything you want. And it is a fraud to blame them when you refuse to use the money they did vote, even when it is ample to pay for everything else in the government.
When Barack Obama keeps claiming that it is some new outrage for those who control the money to try to change government policy by granting or withholding money, that is simply a bald-faced lie. You can check the history of other examples of “legislation by appropriation” as it used to be called.
Whether legislation by appropriation is a good idea or a bad idea is a matter of opinion. But whether it is both legal and not unprecedented is a matter of fact.
Perhaps the biggest of the big lies is that the government will not be able to pay what it owes on the national debt, creating a danger of default. Tax money keeps coming into the Treasury during the shutdown, and it vastly exceeds the interest that has to be paid on the national debt.
Even if the debt ceiling is not lifted, that only means that government is not allowed to run up new debt. But that does not mean that it is unable to pay the interest on existing debt.
None of this is rocket science. But unless the Republicans get their side of the story out — and articulation has never been their strong suit — the lies will win. More important, the whole country will lose.

  • Micasey

Does Boehner stay drunk ALL the time?? He always seems to be speaking through brain fog!

    • Conservative_Hippie

I think he smokes too much, but I thing the fog is finally lifting 🙂

      • Galatiansch2vs20

I heard last night on the news a claim that Boehner basically said he would do something different if the conservatives in the House would let him.

        • Conservative_Hippie

Well I’m glad they can at least influence him in the right direction!

          • Galatiansch2vs20

  • Sentinel

Spot on Scoop. It’s a daily thing now for me to call my representatives and tell them to stand firm. WE THE PEOPLE decide what is what… not these politicians.
In spite of the criminal MSM, I appreciate Boehner and others holding firm on this… I’m surprised he (they) has lasted this long. Good job.
One other observation… notice all the trolls that are flocking here lately? Most of them are simply closed-minded agitators. That’s fine, they can’t help themselves… as long as we can bag ’em, flag ’em, and release ’em back to the wild, no worries. Plus, maybe they’ll hear some undiluted or corrupted truth for once. If worse comes to worse, we can always tell them off before we kick them out the door.
Keep this fight (and yes, it IS a fight) going and put your representatives on speed dial… call them frequently and keep up the pressure. Fight the good fight. And pray that God will provide our leadership wisdom and His grace.

    • Laurel

I notice Fox News on this issue is tilting to the left slightly. could be they are trying to marginalize and reign in Tea Party. Republican Party wants them to be their useful idiots.

      • Patriot077

I think Fox, on the whole, is tilting to the left. Still the best network out there but they certainly aren’t supportive of the Tea Party or conservative issues. Too much Rove time and attention I think.

        • Laurel

Yep. Hence the reason they are losing viewership.

      • Sentinel

I think that’s an interesting idea. FNC may be trying to hard with this ‘fair and balanced’ nonsense. Besides, the Tea Party is more alive and active than current Republicans – they WILL win in 2014, just like they did in 2010.

    • Conservative_Hippie

      Thank you Sentinel! Great post!

  • Laurel

Democrats are glad that Republicans are frustrated…that is what they want. Don’t cave! Frustrate them! these guys are bullies and need to be stood up to once and for all.

    • Conservative_Hippie

And I’m glad the Dems are frustrated also. I guess in a way it is a game..a game of chicken.

  • BHliberty

Yeah, I just peaked into today’s news stories while working and read about this! I believe the Speaker and Republicans are pretty pissed right now the way the President has gone King Henry on the country! “The Heck with the people, this is my country and I can do what I want, the people voted for me!” I just wonder how the other Democrat officials think about this as it is damaging their reputations as well. So…are they going to go down with the president?

    • Laurel

In their hubris they think they can’t lose.

      • BHliberty

And there (hubris) is the problem! Don’t think the American people will tolerate it!

        • Laurel

Depends on which segment of the population you are talking about.

          • BHliberty

I would venture to guess about 60% of the population which is equal to how many are opposed to Obamacare! Who knows, after Monday, the percentages could have increased since they have realized how inefficient the new pgm is ( or how expensive it is!).

            • Laurel

              I hope so.

Stand firm and take the Cruz/Lee message to the people…they are behind you IF you don’t cave.

  • stage9

Have ya’ll friggin read this? This is incredible! Typical Boma voter!

Chad Henderson is a 21-year-old Chattanooga State University student who works part-time at a day-care facility and had been without health insurance for the last 14 years.

His annual take-home pay is $11,500. So, he signs up for ObamaCare and is told he will have to pay a premium of $175 per month. 18% of his yearly income!

Although he wishes that the policy included dental and eyecare he is content with his policy.

“Henderson likely could have received health insurance for as little as $44.72 on before Obamacare, according to Michael F. Cannon of the Cato Institute. And with Obamacare’s community-rating price controls that take effect in 2014, Henderson’s cheapest plan option on eHealthInsurance jumped up to $190.23.”

    • John Richter

The government should give us more than private insurance. They owe it to us.

      • Galatiansch2vs20

The government has no business mandating that people buy medical insurance. The government has no business having the IRS involved in healthcare. The government has no business in redefining full-time as less than what it was. They owe that to us.

    • HA!! Doesn’t cover dental and eye care but HE can get an abortion or a sex change though!

      • Ain’t NObamacare wonderful! 🙁

        • It’s wonderful if you’re a muslim, one of dear leader’s friends, an employee of the federal gubmint or a Member of Congress or Senate. sigh.

  • wakeup1130

“Just keep swimming”… Giving up is NOT an option.

  • Looks like Boehner borrowed some spine from Ted Cruz! About bloody time he shows he had blood and not ice water flowing in his veins!

  • Dukehoopsfan

WTH? Did someone take Boehner to Oz and get him a heart? Stand up and fight! Ignore the media and when confronted push back! It’s not that hard. Didn’t the republicans ever play football? When you get pushed hard or knocked down you get back up and give it back harder.

  • OneThinDime

What Boehner just admitted to is that the House intends to fund Obamacare. “bring fairness to the American people under Obamacare.” Says it all. Did he say, wake up America, this is what your life under the ObamaCare law will do to you, the gov’t will pick and choose when and what medical care you will receive, ie the defunding of NIH? Nope. Just another example of how Boehner schemes with Reid so the campaign contributions flow in and they have talking points for TV ads.

    • waffle_anna

I’d have to disagree on this one. Boehner has been pointing out that Congress and Senate are exempt from Obozocare, or at least have some big waivers that the American people DO NOT HAVE.

What he’s saying here is: “exempt all or exempt no one.”

I am no fan of Boehner, but if he was gonna cave, he would’ve on the very first day. At least he is making a point.

      • OneThinDime

Perhaps you missed this. Boehner conspired with Reid on the Congressional exemption.

        Kabuki theatre.

        • waffle_anna

From what I get in this article is that this Congressional exemption was something done months ago, when repealing Obamacare was a task “too big” for them to accomplish. So yes, it would make sense for Boehner and the others to exempt themselves from Obamacare as they know exactly how bad this law was, yet couldn’t find the cojones to speak out… until Ted Cruz entered the game and went straight to the people.

Fast-foward to now. Boehner still has not caved to Pelosi, Obama or Reid, and even more so, he is pointing out the issues of Obamacare AND the fact that it’s Obama’s responsibility to negotiate. He also pointed out that Obama would rather negotiate with actual terrorists (Taliban, Iran etc.) than the American legislative.

Why do you think Harry Reid has released Boehner’s emails? They’re afraid. If Boehner was going to cave, there would be no need to release his emails. They haven’t done so in his history of caving, so why now?

It’s all about misinforming and deceiving the conservatives that Boehner and the others would cave yet again. Because if the American people think Boehner and the others will cave, the pressure would cease.

Also, notice the much more vile and snarky rhetoric AFTER Boehner chose to stand, calling us terrorists, jihadists and teabaggers… It’s clear they’re afraid. Very afraid.

So when Boehner says “fairness under Obamacare”, he really means “exempt all or no one” – Reid and Obama of course will say no. It’s all about getting the Dems to say no, so the American people will eventually see that the Dems are a serpent’s nest.

Just keep up the pressure and tell all of them to STAND. Nothing else matters right now. Keep up the pressure and do not let yourselves be discouraged by the media’s misinformation campaign. Mediaite is a leftist source btw.

          Just my two cents…

          • OneThinDime

The Obamacare law INCLUDES Congress specifically and was inserted prior to it being passed by DEMOCRATS. Boehner is speaking out of one side of his mouth to treat everyone the same knowing full well he and Reid worked out their exemption, which by the way includes Taxpayers paying 75% of their health insurance cost, out of the other.

IMO the emails were leaked with Boehner’s agreement. They are all distracting us while Obama unilaterally lifts the debt ceiling and the amnesty bill is passed in the House and well into conference.

            • waffle_anna

But Obamacare was passed back in 2010, when the GOP were still a minority in the House – Boehner wasn’t Speaker back then. It did not receive one single Republican vote.
So yes, Boehner worked out the exemption with Reid, but things are much different now that Ted Cruz took over the movement.

Wait… If it includes Congress, it would be put in for the DEMOCRAT majority of Congress back in 2010. But because Republicans were exempt… ah. It makes sense now.

We do not know why the emails were being leaked, but why would Boehner deliberately leak this, knowing full well that it will undermine his position as Speaker? My money is on Reid leaking those emails because he is being pushed into a corner.

We need to hammer the Congressmen on amnesty as well.

  • John Richter

Libs have to admit the fact that Ted Cruz won his shutdown despite the scorn from them and old guard republicans shows his power in congress. Keep it shutdown until obummercare is killed. NO CLEAN VOTE!!!! CRUZ 2016 Everyone in the US has healthcare already, just as President Bush said. We do not want to be forced to pay for insurance!!!!!—Replace with this

“But the numbers are misleading, said John Goodman, president of the National Center for Policy Analysis, a right-leaning Dallas-based think tank. Mr. Goodman, who helped craft Sen. John McCain’s health care policy, said anyone with access to an emergency room effectively has insurance, albeit the government acts as the payer of last resort. (Hospital emergency rooms by law cannot turn away a patient in need of immediate care.)

“So I have a solution. And it will cost not one thin dime,” Mr. Goodman said. “The next president of the United States should sign an executive order requiring the Census Bureau to cease and desist from describing any American – even illegal aliens – as uninsured. Instead, the bureau should categorize people according to the likely source of payment should they need care.
“So, there you have it. Voila! Problem solved.”

They’re getting ready for NEXT week’s fight.

But apparently, it’s going to be immigration reform again. Bummer, I was sooooo hoping it would be Yemen!

So, two weeks ago – Libya.
      This week — gov’ment shutdown.

  • waffle_anna

The media is engaging in a misinformation campaign to make conservatives believe that Boehner and the others are going to cave. What happened is that Harry Reid released Boehner’s emails and conservatives right now are confused about where Congress really stands.

Ask yourselves: Why would Harry Reid release Boehner’s emails if Boehner would cave?
He has never done this before because there was no reason to do so, Boehner caved every single time.

The leftist rhetoric got much more snarky and vile AFTER Congress stood and Ted Cruz went to the people. Notice how they were calling us terrorists, teabaggers and every name in the book? Boehner went to a meeting with Obama, Pelosi and Reid and guess what: HE IS STILL STANDING. Usually after such a meeting he would’ve caved in the spot. After that meeting, leftists call us jihadists and even more vile names.

Just keep praying and hammering Congress to STAND FIRM and hold the line. Hammer them on Amnesty too!!!
