Governor Greg Abbott made an emphatic statement yesterday that he is working with North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory in their fight against the Obama administration over the ‘bathroom’ law, otherwise known as HB2:
Here’s more:
FOX 4 – Gov. Greg Abbott announced he’s been talking to his North Carolina counterpart, Pat McCroy, about how to battle the U.S. Justice Department, which is suing North Carolina over its new law requiring transgender people to use public bathrooms corresponding to the gender on their birth certificates. Abbott also suggested he’d like to see a similar law come to Texas soon.
“Obama is turning bathrooms into courtroom issues,” Abbott told thousands of delegates at Dallas’ convention center. “I want you to know, I am working with the governor of North Carolina, and we are going to fight back.”
He added: “Our country is in crisis, and Texas must lead the way forward.”
Abbott’s office said it expects to announce its next steps as soon as Friday. Abbott is a former Texas Supreme Court justice and before becoming governor last year used his power as state attorney general to sue the Obama administration around 30 times.
I’m so glad to see Gov. Abbott standing with North Carolina in this fight. He is a true conservative and clearly not afraid to stand up for what is right!
Just last night, when the news broke that Obama was forcing all public schools to allow transgender students to use whatever bathroom they wanted, Gov. Abbott tweeted this:
I announced today that Texas is fighting this. Obama can't rewrite the Civil Rights Act. He's not a King. #tcot https://t.co/vDgfQPZXjR

Awesome!
And just because I know most of you will love this, here’s how Abbott wrapped up his speech at the Texas GOP Convention:
Abbott wrapped up with something he said would never happen at a Democratic convention, a reference to the Bible. He recited from the book of Psalms.
“He alone is my rock and my salvation. He is my fortress. I will never be shaken,” he said as the filled convention room rose to its feet, and added. “As long as we build our fortress on the rock of God, America will never be shaken.”
