It didn’t take long for Turkey’s would-be dictator Erdogan to proclaim victory in the election today deciding whether to expand his presidential powers or not.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared victory in a close referendum to expand his powers, but opposition parties were contesting the results. Erdogan has made congratulatory calls to party leaders. If the vote stands, it would transform Turkey’s system of government, abolish the post of prime minister and entrench one-man rule, Erdogan’s critics say. He would be poised to be the country’s most dominant leader since Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the Turkish republic.
BUT… not everyone is on board with his unilateral proclamation:

So we should get official results soon, but it doesn’t matter to dictator Erdogan… he’s a winner in his own mind.

It looks like he won, but the @ReaganBattalion account makes a good point:
Even with half of the opposition in jail, all Erdogan was able to get was 51.3%? #TurkishReferendum https://t.co/1XEJs9t650

And remember that freak out between the Dutch and the Turkey government? That was over Erdogan’s buddies being allowed to campaign to Turkish citizens who were abroad – all for the sake of this vote.
