BREAKING: Paul Ryan releases statement on new GOP ethics board changes

There’s been a lot of hubbub this morning on the news about the House voting overnight to ‘gut’ the ethics committee, suggesting that there will now be no ethical oversight of members of Congress.

But according to Paul Ryan, that’s simply not true. The ethics committee was brought back under the helm of the Oversight committee to ensure that general rules and laws are followed. Ryan emphasizes that the Oversight committee will not be allowed to interfere with ethics committee investigations or prevent the ethics committee from doing it’s job (click to enlarge):
