Breaking! Police Officer SHOT in Detroit, MASSIVE MANHUNT underway for shooter…

Another terrible night for police as one of their own is shot in Detroit and is in critical condition.

From ABC News:

A Wayne State University police officer was shot and in “very critical” condition Tuesday night and an “aggressive” manhunt was on for the suspect, police said.

The shooting happened off-campus, where the officer was on patrol in an area where there had been a number of reported vehicle thefts, according to Detroit Police Chief James Craig.

The officer had been conducting a traffic stop when he was shot, police said. Another responding officer rushed him to the hospital.

“He’s very critical – he’s in surgery right now,” said Wayne State University Police Chief Anthony Holt. “We’re just hoping for the very best outcome.”

He described the five-year veteran as an “excellent officer” who had received a number of commendations.

Here’s a suspect:

More from CBS Detroit:

The identity of the officer has not been released but Detroit Police Assistant Chief Steve Dolunt telling WWJ: “Right now we have an officer who has been shot – he was doing a stop of an individual on a bicycle, he was shot once in the head …. He was conveyed to Detroit Receiving Hospital and we are praying for the officer.”

“There was a bicycle laying in the middle of the street,” said Dolant.

Police describe the suspect as a black man in his 40s with facial hair – he was wearing a coat. “We are trying to pull the video right now and once we have a better description we will give it to you guys.”

Dolant could not say if the officer was shot with his own gun.

“We have detained someone, we do not know if that is a suspect,” WWJ was told at the scene.

Let’s hope the scumbag is caught soon.
