CNN is reporting that Trump is thinking about firing Rod Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general who has authority over Special Counsel Robert Mueller, in an attempt to rein in his investigation.
Here’s CNN freaking out over it:

I could see him doing this. He’s been furious at Sessions, he’s probably just as angry against Rosenstein, he watches Fox News that keeps telling him everyone is in some paranoid conspiracy against him, AND, he’s on much stronger legal ground firing Rosenstein than he is Mueller.
On the other hand, he MUST know this would result in a yuge political firestorm.
One indicator he may not be doing this is that he’s meeting with Dershowitz all day today:
Some news - Dershowitz has been at the White House for part of today as Trump seeks his input, and he’s supposed to have dinner with the president tonight, per WH sources

Dershy has been a little nutty lately, but he’s not a crazed conspiracy nut like some of the people Trump has around him. He’ll likely try to calm him down and persuade him against rash action. Then he’ll forget all about it tomorrow and fire Rosenstein….
