BREAKING: Trump just released a statement on McCain’s passing and the White House flag

Trump has just released a statement on John McCain’s passing, saying that despite his differences with McCain he respects his service to our country.

Because of that he’s issued a proclamation to fly the US flag at half-staff until McCain is buried.

Here’s the full statement:

I’ve seen on the news this morning that at least one veterans group actually made this request of Trump and I’m glad to see him honoring it.

Also, as you can see in the statement, Trump is sending Kelly, Mattis, and Bolton in his place for the funeral services. Before you get upset about this, understand that it was McCain’s wish that Trump not attend his funeral, according to CNN:

CNN has reported that McCain chose Barack Obama and George W. Bush — the two men who kept him from the White House — to eulogize him and didn’t want the President to attend his funeral.

Trump is simply honoring the wish of McCain by not attending. But I’m sure the media will make a huge deal about that too.
