Chris Matthews said earlier today that the big story out of the Comey hearing was that the accusation that Trump colluded with Russia during the election basically came apart.
He explains below:
He cites as his first point Comey testifying that Trump told him that the FBI should nail anyone in his campaign that did collude with Russia.
But the real thing that got him was Comey admitting that Flynn wasn’t central to the Russia investigation, as Matthews had previously thought. In fact Matthews admits that he thought Trump was afraid of Flynn blackmailing him for something he might have said about colluding with Russia. He thought that Trump was worried that if the FBI ‘flipped’ Flynn and got him to rat out his boss, it would come out and he would be exposed.

Matthews realizes now this isn’t the case and concludes by asking “if that’s not the case, where’s the there there?”
